It's time for our annual pilgrimage to the land of food on sticks.
After two short weeks and a brief drive (30 minutes west of
Nashville), we'll be basking in the end-of-summer ritual of the
Cheatham County Fair. Expect an epic evening of spins on the shoddily
assembled Tilt-a-Whirl and cruelly rigged carnival games involving
goldfish. The feature event: the Demolition Derby, a uniquely American
spectacle of machismo, destruction and the occasional need for
emergency crews on the scene.
 
 
 
The derby (probably) starts at 7; we'll aim to lead a caravan from the
Emma parking lot around 6 pm. Fair admission is $10, which includes
unlimited rides. Bring more cash for parking ($3/car) and a vast
selection of unhealthy deliciousness to delight young and old alike.
Prizes will be awarded for the tackiest purchased souvenir and the
most funnel cake consumed without regret.
