  1. Three meals a day
  2. No snacks
    1. One fruit between meals if physically hungry only
  3. Unprocessed foods only (vegetables, milk, yogurt, grains)
    1. effectively nixes packaged goods of any kind, no matter how healthy they appear
  4. Whole foods only (no white flour, rice, etc.)
  5. One nine-inch plate per meal
  6. Every meal must have a significant portion of vegetables
  7. Meat (any kind) is fine, but must not make up more than 1/2 of the plate
  8. To the extent possible, eat organic, local food
    1. the vegetable rule trumps this rule
  9. No sugar
    1. honey is allowed in very limited quantities as part of home-cooked meals only
