To fulfill this mission, we are looking for a Sustainability Product Innovation and Engineering Lead that will partner across the company on sustainability. This work will include partnering to develop new features and tools, improve existing services, and ensure sustainability is part of engineering work across the company. This new role will be an integral part of a new team dedicated to internal and external stakeholder engagement on sustainability.

The person we want in this role will:

  • Be a champion for sustainability and keenly understand the way technology can accelerate sustainability goals and outcomes for SMBs and enterprise customers
  • Have a talent for working effectively and inclusively across teams, driving a vision while bringing stakeholders along with a sense of collaboration and co-ownership
  • Be capable of translating trends into a business case for investment, development, and adoption in new features and products

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with key engineering groups to co-create product roadmaps that ensure Microsoft’s products and services are useful tools for sustainability needs and markets
  • Identifying priority areas for the development of new products and features to meet market and technology needs for sustainability, and coordinating with key groups to secure buy-in for development and guide concepts through ideation, iteration, and prototyping
  • Partnering closely with the sustainability customer evangelist and the sustainability team to understand customer needs and desires, translating that into the roadmap and priority development areas and securing private preview and beta customers for these products
  • Building and maintaining a strong, diverse network of sustainability engineering champions across the company to guide the development and implementation of above workplans and priority areas
  • Working with the developer, evangelist and research communities inside and outside Microsoft to identify, partner and ultimately deliver open-sourced, Azure-based software solutions that advance sustainability and address key technology gaps

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on work in product and software development roles with proven experience of bringing new solutions to general availability
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full development life cycle
  • Experience using your written and verbal communication skills to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Knowledgeable about sustainability and eager to learn more
  • A high level of enthusiasm, creativity, self-motivation, and resourcefulness
  • Plays well with others and thrives in cross-team environments
