Precursor Remix Pack 4

A quick and unofficial UQM package for the fourth and final Precursors album. I'm sure someone working on this already -- someone with better knowledge and experience than me -- but I put this together to gain a bit of experience.

Hopefully you'll find it useful too (at least until the official package comes out).

How do I install it?

Download the UQM package file and copy it into your Ur-Quan Masters "addons" folder. You might need to turn on remixes in the setup menu, and re-launch the game.

Does it work?

It works for me :-) I've tried it on MacOS X "Lion" with The Ur-Quan Masters v0.7.0 and the latest development build (r3778).

When is the official package coming?

Core team member mcmartin expects he'll get to it over the 2012-2013 holiday period.

What's wrong with it?

The packaging is probably wrong -- I put it together based on some guesswork and reverse-engineering.

The Precursors only have MP3 versions of their tracks available, and UQM supports only Ogg Vorbis. I used ffmpeg to decode to WAV and then Xiph's oggenc to encode to Ogg Vorbis. Since it's gone through a couple of layers of lossy encoding, there's some loss of audio quality.

Intro and Outro music isn't hooked up -- UQM 0.7.0 doesn't provide a convenient way to override just the music for the intro and victory slideshows (see bug #1172). I made up slot names based on the existing slideshow resources. Maybe the next release of UQM will support it and hook them up.

There were two remixes of utwig.mod and only one slot, so I picked the one arbitrarily (Utwig - Mask of Ultimate Embarrasment and Shame).

There was one remix of "spathi.mod" but two slots that used it ("spathi" and "safeones"). It looks like Remix Pack 2 had a track called "Spathi - Safe Haven" which sounds like it belongs in the "safeones" slot, but it's in the "spathi" slot. I put "Spathi - Fwiffo's Starrunner" in the "spathi" slot.

There was no obvious place to use the track The Sentient Milieu - Ripples in Time, so it isn't hooked up anywhere.
