Quick Translate ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension "Quick Translate".
We collect the following data solely for the purpose of providing the translation service:
- User-Selected Text: When you use the extension to translate text, the specific text you select on a webpage is sent to our servers.
- Contextual Information: We may check the URL of the current page solely to determine if the page is on your "excluded sites" list. This happens locally on your device.
- Translation: The selected text is transmitted to our secure Cloudflare Worker and then forwarded to our AI translation provider (Z.AI) to generate the translation.
- No Storage: We do not permanently store your original text or the translated text on our servers. Data is processed in memory and discarded after the response is sent back to you.
- Local Cache: To improve performance, translated text may be temporarily stored in your browser's local storage (Local Cache). You can clear this cache at any time in the extension settings.
We use the following third-party services to provide the translation functionality:
- Z.AI: An AI provider used to generate translations. Their use of data is governed by their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: Used to host our API worker.
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data during transmission (HTTPS/TLS).
You have the right to:
- Disable the extension at any time.
- Clear the local cache stored on your device via the Options page.
