| BRICK[bricksmash]SMASH is: | |
| * a surprising twist on a well-known game | |
| * a musical toy | |
| * a sequence of realisations | |
| At first glance, it appears to be a standard block-breaking game (frequently known as Arkanoid or Breakout), with a bouncing ball, a player-controlled paddle, and bricks to hit with the ball. | |
| However, hitting the bricks doesn't remove them as expected, it instead creates a new ball *inside* the brick, where a smaller version of the same game must now be played simultaneously. To play well, the player realises they have to split their attention between the main game and the multiple smaller games being played all at once. | |
| The final joke is that if you clear an inner game, more balls appear in the main game. Eventually, this will set off a chain reaction where balls appear faster and faster, changing it from a game of concentration into a more chaotic and uncontrollable finale. | |
| Every time a ball bounces off something, a musical note is played. As the game goes on, these form a random tune unique to your game, never to be heard again. | |
| I have prototyped the game [see below] and people respond very positively. I need funding for: | |
| * Hiring a musician to create more engaging dynamic music | |
| * Hiring an artist to improve the visual appearance of the game | |
| * Developing the iOS/Android version | |
| * Developing a multiplayer version so people can play together |
