25th of Janurary, 2025
This is the first part of many updates that aim to enhance and make the combat into a more enjoyable state for the community. The TKG development team aims to release the raid maps in these parts. Serving as the first real test for alot of the development team, I hope you guys enjoy.
- Lightsaber Pykes, with all saber forms, 35+ different staff parts to combine with. Purchasable via gamepass.
- Music button that you can hover over to display which song is currently playing.
- A new setting to toggle your ghost morph ingame, for Sith Revenant/Wraith' and Jedi Ghosts.
- E&D and D&S dojo have dummies.
- Welcome to Dawn Temple badge
- Backend stuff that prepare us for updates to come.
Your saber sets will carry over to the pyke unuiqe part, you shouldn't have to re-buy any sets.
- The balancing of saber forms can be more in-depth, I've categorized the different forms by saber type, rather than just form for all saber types. (What it was before) Meaning we can balance and fix specific form speeds for specific saber types, for forms that arent as viable as others, while maintaining their unique characteristics.
- Kicks have been slowed, and their hitbox is no longer instantly raycasted the frame you press R. Allowing you to react to them and parry them if you're looking out for it. They're still pretty fast, so it'll take some getting used to.
- Seats for the JHC and COREA were changed in Dawn.
- Darksaber cost lowered from 1800 -> 1500

7th of December, 2024
From being an idea in May 2021, to formally committing to the project in May 2022, Dawn Temple is done.
It has had 7 builders work on it through various iterations and designs, and I personally (ShadowEngineer) worked on features for it from as early as June 2022. It has been a rollercoaster and a half, but it is a badge of honour for us as TKG developers that we were able to push through the hardships, setbacks and unexpected events to this map's completion. It has had hours of love, labour, blood, sweat, and tears put into it by all of us here in TKG. We are immensely proud. There are no doubt some issues, but we will iron them out like we always do.
Thank you for sticking with us throughout all these years. The game is defined by its community, and so is its new flagship temple for the Jedi Order.
We hope you enjoy experiencing it just as much as we enjoyed making it! With love, the TKG Development Team.
- Added Dawn Temple, a safe-haven for Jedi from all corners of the galaxy, built on the beautiful planet of Spintir. Featuring:

/!dropapprentice Name
to drop a student, if they're yours. They can be in-game with you, but don't have to be.!dropmaster
to drop your master, if you're a student and have one. They can be in-game with you, but don't have to be.- There are a number of automations that run when you join a new server that automatically remove your master/students if you cannot have them.
- The respective Jedi and Sith variants of the commands only work on their faction worlds - e.g., a Jedi Knight cannot claim a Padawan on Crucible Prime.
- Associated Cmdr commands have also been added for developers/project managers.

which allows any project manager or developer to teleport a group of players to any TKG place - public or hidden. - Added some new Cmdr command functionality (devs and pm), related to force powers - cannot publically mention here.
- Added sphere-specific spawns to all respective rooms for each Sphere of Influence in the Sith Order, including exclusive spawns for their Inner Circles.

We're hard at work on some pretty big changes behind the scenes, and Dawn Temple progress is going smoothly. 2 features that were made exclusively for Dawn Temple are the Day & Night Cycle and Interactive Holocrons - however, we decided to release them independently! (we were too excited about them!) Holocrons specifically are quite different than what we originally envisioned for the system. They are still audio-only like we wanted originally, but they are created and configured by the developers, instead of the players. This gives us the ability to add much cooler custom implementations to each holocron that the game will have alongside building features off specific holocrons.
With the foundations that this early implementation has created, we are able to explore many new avenues of immersive features with or related to Holocrons, in the future.
It must be noted though, that only those strongest in the Force and most enlightened to its secrets will be able to open Holocrons...
- Added 5 Holocrons.
- 4 Sith Holocrons inside the Holocron Vault on Crucible Prime.
- 1 Jedi Holocron inside the Jedi Archives on Ossus. (this is a revamped version of the original Obi-Wan Kenobi holocron that so many of you wanted back post-Rewrite!)
- Added celestial movement simulation (a day & night cycle) to all places in the Known Galaxy!
- A full 24 hours in the game is equivalent to 2 hours in real time.
- The Adonis
:time
command is now non-functional. - Every new server starts from the same initial point in time, so different servers with different ages will have different times of day.
- Added a new welcome screen to the Galactic Hub, where you can choose your preferred alignment (useful for those in both Orders).
- Selecting a preferred alignment will spawn you on that alignment's team by default - e.g., Sith Elders who are in the Jedi Order as Padawans can prefer to be Jedi, and will spawn in as Jedi on Ossus and Crucible Prime.
- Also instructs new players to join the Jedi Order or Sith Order groups if they wish to play as them.
- Added visual cooldown bars for existing force powers, showing how long you have left before you can use that power.
- Added a graphics setting (Use Custom Materials, on by default) that disables custom materials and textures if turned off. Some materials are permanently turned off when you join the game with that setting on.
- Added 8 new lightsaber hilts: Eno Cordova's, Justice, Justiciar, Nightglaive, Excelsior, Deliverance, Eikon and Arcann. Full credit to @yxrae
- Added remodels for the Temple Guard hilt, and added unique remodels for the Vibrosaber - Jedi and Sith now have their own variants. Full credit to @yxrae
- Added new planet textures to the Galactic Hub.
- Added asset pre-loading to Galactic Hub, alongside a loading screen.
- Added a whole selection of new death sounds.
- Added statues to Dark Honor Guard Dojo on Crucible Prime.

- Fixed faction icons not showing up on area tags in Crucible Prime.
- Fixed a 2-year-old bug where custom PBR textures we have added to lightsabers don't actually show up on the hilts in your hand.
- Changed the music in the Galactic Hub.
- Changed the positions of some planets in the Galactic Hub.
- Changed the visual effects to be distinct for hidden and locked planets.

It's been a short while. Nevertheless, we've been busy!
A big weekly chore for project managers and the programmers especially, is getting online to restore people's crystals or give them rewards for competitions. I decided to reduce our mental strain and finally tackled this issue, coming up with a novel solution that allows us to run a few short commands from the comfort of our in-game terminals, and gifts containing the required rewards will arrive in the players' hands automatically, whenever they get online! I'm personally very happy about this, since this allows me a lot more free time to work on TKG weekly, and removes a big headache from my conscience.
On top of that, an entire collection of new armours were added courtesy of Kilan, and a whole array of various bugs were fixed and improvements made courtesy of Official!
- Added an entire backend system for remote delivery of rewards and gifts for the programmers and project managers.
- A set of commands usable by programmers/project managers that allows the delivery of credits, coruscas, titles, hilts, materials and crystals to anyone.
- It works when the recipients are in different servers, or not online at all.
- This allows us to now deliver rewards for things like DOTO/WOTDL remotely, and the recipients will receive them automatically when they next log in - like mail from a mailbox!
- There is a huge backlog of credit and title rewards for various competitions that has not been processed due to difficulties in scheduling - this lessens the workload for developers and gets rewards for winners faster.
- Many internal changes and improvements to developer workflows and internal tools were also made, allowing us to more easily work on the game and work with player data.
- Added developer bypass for all doors.
- Added 1 new armour set for the Temple Guard - specifically, for Captain+ to wear.
- Added a belt with keys to all Temple Guard morphs.
- Added legwear and a cape to both Dark Honor Guard morphs.
- Added 6 new armour sets for all Sith Inquisitors (and Lord+) to wear.
- Added 2 new armour sets for Sith Overseers to wear - equipable through their robes.
- Added saber benches to JAT and TSF dojos.
- Added back proximity-based door activation to JAT/TSF doors to help people leaving those doors open.
- Added a join notification for the Dark Honor Guard, when VIPs join the game.

Kilan and I have once again "cooked". We're refining our craft in making 3D armour, and establishing even more of a deeper understanding of the workflows required in preparation for the Character Customisation systems. This time, we wanted to give the Jedi Assault Team some much needed visual love, and gave them actual armour. We're already aware of some minor bugs with equipping/unequipping these and accessories - consequences of the aging outfitting menu. These will be taken seriously when we look at actually executing the Customisation update and rewriting all the Customisation UI.
- JAT Armour.
- The same original Blue, Green, Gold and White armour sets for the lower ranks.
- 2 variants (1 with a hood, and the other with the hood down) of each of the colour armours with robes for the Vindicator+.
22nd of January, 2024
Yet another small proof-of-concept update. Last time it was 3D cloaks, now, it is 3D armour - specifically for the newly released Temple Security Force. We've worked out a workflow and identified pitfalls through experiments, and now believe we have a good idea on how to make 3D armour.
- TSF Armour (with very minor variations for the Trainees, Watchmen, Scouts and Senior Leadership).
- Equipable by finding and wearing the "TSF Uniform" from the Outfit tab.
- Only visible to members of the Temple Security Force.
- Fixed arrest permissions for the Council of Reconciliaton (you don't want to know how dangerous they were before).
- Fixed Sith Warlords not seeing the Sith Juggernaut uniform in the outfit tab.
- Fixed faction logos not showing in area tags.
20th of January, 2024
Whilst working on other larger projects, I felt the need to get a few of these small things out of the way, and satisfy some long-promised claims. The Sith Juggernauts and Jedi Weapon Specialists now have their feared saber throw... and let me tell you, it is not something to be trifled with. Finally, I'd like to start off this year by also abiding by the proper Semantic Versioning guidelines for software. Given that this update brings a new minor feature, it is necessary to bump the version to 1.4.x.
- Added Saber Throw ability for Jedi Weapon Specialists and Sith Juggernauts.
- Costs half your Force, 2.5x base damage with a 3 second cooldown.
- Press T to use if you have it.
- Keybind for the Settings menu has been moved to Y to avoid the conflict.
- The permissions for Sith Lords to change scenes on Tournament Area.
- Owners of any of the Legacy Gamepasses now also have access to Shien and Vaapad, on top of Juyo already.
- Fixed lightsaber clash sounds not being audible when multiple clashes are made in very short periods of time (<0.1s).
- Fixed double bladed lightsabers extinguishing the wrong blade when transferring to single-mode with some switches (with this came some other internal changes to the way lightsaber hilts are constructed, so you might notice some parts being visually swapped around on some double hilts).
- Fixed the DHG Pyke flinging you around when you do force moves, making it hard to fight.
- Reduced Soresu swing speed multiplier by 2.1%.
- Removed Christmas decorations, snow and music from Ossus and Crucible Prime.
10th of December, 2023

1st of December, 2023
The last time I wrote one of these was exactly a year ago. It was right after "the big 3" left the development team, and I was the sole programmer on the team. It felt bittersweet to say "Merry Christmas from the TKG Development Team!" and I felt deeply unsure of the year to come and whether us as a team, a game and a community would survive to see another year.
Well, look at us now! 1 year and 11 formal updates later. Here are some of the biggest milestones:
- The Title Menu and Settings Menu in March.
- The Great Riddles and player-inspired lightsaber hilts in March.
- The Combat Rewrite in July (and plenty of combat work before that).
- Our biggest yet map release, Crucible Prime in August.
- The Official TKG Soundtrack coming with Crucible Prime, courtesy of @Capitaine332.
- Many more smaller features to broad in scope to mention individually...
Throughout this time we've both lost and gained members of the team, and I'd like to take this as a moment to also recognise @Esociety for his fantastic first year in the team. He contributed greatly to features both small and big, ending with his Magnum Opus, the Galactic Hub in December of this year.
I'd also like to thank @vaexiv for the time he spent with us and his great contributions in making Crucible Prime what it is, and @noradgc for coming in recently and taking over building projects behind the scenes after vae's departure. On top of that, @OfficialAnarchic is our most recent addition to the team, and has made some of his first contributions in 1.3.0.
I'd like to additionally throw some huge props to @Kilan2222 for his countless hours in voice calls with me, throwing ideas, and redefining the game's modelling aesthetic one mesh at a time.
And I'd like to finally thank all of you, the TKG community and especially the Beta Testers for making all of this possible, and keeping us going with the immense level of support you return to us - for keeping with us through thick and thin. I cannot wait to see where we go in 2024...
Thank you, and Merry Christmas from the Known Galaxy Development Team.
- Rewrote the entire Galactic Hub from scratch.
- Shows all available planets in the Known Galaxy.
- Shows all available places in each planet.
- Shows all running servers in each place - their names, player counts and whether they are private or not.
- Allows joining public servers.
- Allows creation of private servers by Jedi Master+ and Sith Lord+. (We'll expand on private server creation heavily in the future - expanded permissions, security and private server-specific features.)
- Private servers can be joined via entry of a 6-character code of the form
XXXXXX
. If the server's creator chooses not to create the server immediately, someone else with the same code can start it too - codes stay valid for only a limited time after their creation. - The server information display now shows server name for easy server identification from the inside of one.
- Added achievements!
- Under the My Statistics menu from the Dock, there is a new tab showing your Achievements!
- Achievements are earned by completing certain milestones in your TKG journey.

- Some achievements give special rewards too (credits, titles, hilts and materials are all possible from the reward tables).
- A new setting,
General > Hide Achievement Details
changes the achievement UI to show the list in a different, conciser layout. - Initial release contains 15 achievements, with a set more coming in a future update. (We want to explore more progression-based achievements.)
- Christmas has arrived in The Known Galaxy!
- All the lands are now covered in thick layers of snow!
- The merry workers from Lapland have also brought presents and decoration!
- The weather has changed on Crucible Prime.
- Added Christmas-themed collectibles. Go on a journey and find them all!
- Added a Snow Fort on Ossus, and piles of snowballs all around the areas.
- Added snowballs and snowball fights! (Snowballs near the fort do 100 damage, 5 damage elsewhere.)
- Temple Guards and Dark Honor Guards have received festive outfits.
- Added Christmas-themed music and daily challenge sound effects.
- Added default spawns to the Jedi Assault Team and Temple Security Force dojos. Members of the aforementioned divisions now spawn there by default.

- Some other character loading related issues might be fixed, such as not being able to equip lightsabers when you first spawn, or your HUD not updating when you first spawn.
- These fixes have not been explicitly tested, and only might be fixed as they are affected by character loading.
19th of Novemeber, 2023
Woah, 2 updates in 2 days? This one might just be a welcome sight for the Darths and Jedi Masters of our community. We are pleased to say that soft shutdowns are now a feature! Have a look at the change logs below!
- Added support for soft shutdowns.
- A soft shutdown is a server shutdown where all players automatically teleport back to the Galactic Hub and the server shuts itself down afterwards.
- Servers will now automatically self-shutdown themselves 12 hours after they start. No more SSU's!
- Developers can now invoke soft shutdowns via Cmdr commands on a per-server basis.
- Developers can now also invoke soft shutdowns for every running server from outside ROBLOX! New updates will automatically trigger a 30 minute long timer for to migrate to the latest version.

24th of September, 2023
You know, this started off as a hotfix branch, but that was 13 days ago...
Either way, we fixed some issues that really needed to be fixed, and we also added some new outfit aesthetics! We are still playing around with LayeredClothing but the cloaks serve as a very good proof-of-concept for features we will pursue down the line.
For all the members of Defense & Security screaming "HEY WHERE IS MY AOE HEAL?", don't worry, we're still working on it. These things have just taken precedent. That is one of our next focuses!
- Added cloaks for Jedi/Sith Knight+ to wear as a proof-of-concept feature.

15th of July, 2023
Well, it's been a minute, hasn't it.
Either way, we've been hard at work, going through the hoops of life, while working on bringing you the single largest combat update the game has received in its history. With new mechanics, tweaks, rebalances and bug fixes, the combat experience is fresh and flashy. The Beta Testers have been instrumental in spinning ideas, giving feedback, and uncovering bugs over multiple months of design iterations and robust polishing. It's been a journey to get here, and it's not without its ups and downs.
Alongside that, a whole host of other smaller new features and changes have been made. Softline robes have finally made it into the game, and the notorious block glitch has been fixed!
Thank you all for your continued support for the game and this community. Hope you enjoy!

- Added a few new animations to the Ossus lecture hall chairs, and the council chairs in the council rooms.
- Rewrote almost the entire client-side lightsaber code, and partially rewrote the server-side lightsaber code to be easier to work with, easier to maintain, and easier to add to. Some bugs are indirectly fixed from this.
- Added the kicking combat mechanic.
- Press R to kick when your lightsaber is ignited.
- Kicking someone who's blocking will stun them.

- You will swing faster based on how many consecutive hits you've landed on any opponent within a relatively short time window.
- You can stack up to 3 hits for the speed multiplier.

- Turned off by default, and toggleable via a new setting under Gameplay.

8th of June, 2023
- Added an activity logger for the Jedi Assault Team as per Barsen'thor Vanestc's request.
- Fixed an issue where some players could not get out of their respective faction spawns due to group data not loading correctly. I've installed a somewhat semi-permanent workaround instead of trying to find the root cause because admittedly, I have no idea what the hell is going on. Oh well! Should be fixed either way. Let me know if there's any more such problems.

This update serves to act as an intermediate update between the previous big feature update, and the next update which will be centred around the combat system more majorly.
Myself and the development team have been hard at work making some rather large changes to the internal way the system works to be able to better expand upon it in the future. These changes are taking longer than originally expected, but rest assured, the combat system is getting the love it deserves.
Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoy these non-combat centric changes!
It's been very exciting seeing all the backend systems coming to life and assisting us in current and future development, and I cannot wait to see where we'll be able to go with them. Furthermore, the first player-influenced hilt set designs have officially made it into the game with this update!
Thank you all for bearing with us.
- 2 new lightsaber hilts: Celestial and Dreadmaster to honour the combative prowess of the latest Duelist of the Galaxy, and Wrath of the Dark Lord respectively. These are the first custom lightsaber hilts with player-influenced design to be put into the game, with more to come in the future!
- New morphs for the Dark Honor Guard. Sleeker, and meaner.
- Added internal security features to better defend against exploiters.
- Added a more robust ban-checking system and some internal tools that community leadership can now use to interact with this system.
- With this system, we've laid the ground-work for future features that rely on these internal tools, and help us more easily build future systems that work around these.
- Added internal analytics tools to better track the flow of currency.
- Added internal webhooks to track usage of the in-game custom title system.
- Removed rank barriers from Ossus and Dathomir prohibiting lower ranks from leaving the temples.
- Made holodoors thicker.
- Changed the kyber crystal colours of: Indigo, Mint, Orange and Amber.
- Internal Adonis updates to make changing permissions easier.
- Dark Honor Guard Sergeants (new), Jedi Assault Team Vindicators (new) and Jedi Artisans (bug fix) are now given Moderator permissions via Adonis.
- Jedi Temple Guard are given
:joinlogs
,:leavelogs

to better aid in law enforcement. - Jedi Masters and Darths are now able to use the
:crossserver
command to aid in hosting division/sphere/specialisation events. - Fixed Jedi Sage activity tracker.
- Fixed Padawan Learner and Service Initiate's playerlist colours.

Some of the information is lore created by The Academic Alliance.
- Practice dummies to JAT and DHG dojos.

I've worked really hard on this update and I am genuinely excited for people to start enjoying their daily challenges and also compete with each other on the leaderboards that have been added in this update. There's also been some great quality of life updates which you can read about below."
This is the start of many meaningful and fun updates that we plan to release over the forseeable future.
Enjoy. 💝
- We've spent almost a month working on daily challenges, which is a completely brand new system in our game. Jedi and Sith players will now get a set of daily challenges every day (
3
challenges per day if you're below the rank of Jedi AJK or Sith Warrior, otherwise4
per day), in which they will earn credits for each completed challenge. You can earnC$175
per day, and Jedi AJK+ or Sith Warriors earnC$225
per day. To access this new feature, open the top dock and press "Daily Challenges". A UI will open on the left hand side of the screen which will show your currently active / completed challenges as well as the current progress on those challenges and the reward for completing it. You'll also see a refresh time at the bottom of that UI. Currently there are 14 challenge types, some even having random elements to them to improve variety. This system will become very heavily interweaved with our game going forward; when new systems / features come out, you may notice there's new challenges that interact with those new features. Keep an eye out on your challenges each day, there's lots to get stuck into! - Currency displays for both credits and coruscas at the bottom right of the screen (they are only visible when they change), they also now play sounds when you earn or spend currency! Credits and coruscas have different distinct sounds.
- Added a brand new leaderboard system to the game. Open up the top dock and press
GAME STATISTICS
to see these currently available leaderboards. - Above head health bars have returned! This old feature from the pre-rewrite version of the game has now been recreated. Health bars will only show when they are NOT at full capacity. They'll fade away nicely when they reach full capacity.
- Above head typing indicators have returned too! This was also an old feature from the pre-rewrite version of the game. You will now see 3 animated dots above their head when someone is typing.
- Off duty / on duty commands for TG and DHG have been added back! To use them say
/e onduty
or/e offduty
. These commands prefixed with an/e
at the start will help you to go off-duty and on-duty without breaking OOS or exposing yourself to other players. When off-duty you are a regular player again who can use their own customised hilts and interact with the game as any other player would. - Latest archive data has been imported for both the Jedi and Sith order.
- Improved some areas in code to enhance performance
- Fixed the bug where you could emote while editing a hilt (causing the bench to bug)

- Respawn areas have been improved for the combat areas on Ossus, players who die on one of the smaller outer pads will now respawn there. The main FFA pad in the center will remain the same, respawning around the chamber upon death.
