Commute Time for Jobs is a Chrome extension that enhances Indeed job search by showing public transportation times to job locations. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal user data to external servers.
The extension stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage system:
- Home Address: Your manually entered home address for calculating transportation routes
- Google Maps API Key: Your personal API key for accessing Google Maps services
- Current Location: Only when you explicitly click "📍 Use Current Location" button
- Job Location Data: Read from Indeed pages to calculate transportation times
- Your home address and API key are stored locally in Chrome's sync storage
- This data syncs across your Chrome browsers for convenience
- You can delete this data anytime through Chrome's extension settings
- Your Google Maps API key is used to make requests to Google Maps Directions API
- These requests are made directly from your browser to Google's servers
- We do not intercept, store, or have access to the data returned by Google
- GPS coordinates are only accessed when you explicitly grant permission
- Coordinates are used temporarily to calculate routes
- No location data is stored permanently
We do not share any of your data with third parties.
The only external communication is:
- API requests to Google Maps (using your own API key)
- These requests are made directly from your browser to Google
- All data is stored locally on your device
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- Your Google Maps API key is stored securely in Chrome's sync storage
- You control all data and can delete it anytime
- The extension uses Google Maps Directions API for transportation calculations
- This service is subject to Google's privacy policy
- Your API key and requests are governed by Google's terms of service
- We do not have access to any data processed by Google
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View stored data in Chrome's extension settings
- Delete: Remove all stored data anytime
- Modify: Update your home address or API key anytime
- Disable: Turn off the extension completely
- Data is stored locally until you delete it
- No data is retained on external servers
- You can clear all data by uninstalling the extension
This extension does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is designed for job seekers and requires user-provided information.
