Release Dates

The release dates for this mod are challenging to reconstruct.

Below are some some reconstructed release dates, e.g. from bluesnews, shacknews, usenet, etc.

# 0.91, Wednesday, January 13, 1999
# 0.673, December 22 1997
# ? new patch, Sunday, September 21, 1997
# 0.665, Tuesday, September 9, 1997
# 0.664, Monday, September 8, 1997
# 0.663, Saturday, September 6, 1997
# 0.66, Tuesday, September 2, 1997
# 0.65, Monday, August 25, 1997
# 0.646, Sunday, August 24, 1997
# ? first beta, Friday, August 15, 1997

Release filenames are also challenging to reconstruct, although there is evidence that the naming conversion was:

  • rotp0xx.zip
  • rotp0xxs.zip
  • rotp0xxp.zip

Where rofp is an acronym for Rise Of The Phoenix. For example: rotp0xx.zip.

Other variations include fqrotpxxx.zip with a Fantasy Quake prefix or simply fqxxx.zip.
