Romanize Captions does not collect, sell, or share personal user data.

Information Processed

The extension processes subtitle/caption text visible on supported streaming websites (YouTube, Netflix, Crunchyroll) in order to:
	•	Generate romanized text
	•	Provide word hover meanings
	•	Translate subtitle lines

Caption text may be temporarily sent to a secure remote processing API for translation and romanization purposes.

Data Collection

The extension:
	•	Does NOT collect personal information
	•	Does NOT collect browsing history
	•	Does NOT collect account information
	•	Does NOT collect authentication data
	•	Does NOT collect financial or health information

Local Storage

The extension uses Chrome’s local storage to cache translations and word meanings to improve performance and reduce repeated API calls.

This data:
	•	Is stored only on the user’s device
	•	Is not transmitted to third parties
	•	Is not used for tracking

Third-Party Services

Caption text may be sent to a secure API endpoint solely for translation and romanization processing. No personally identifiable information is included.

Data Selling

We do not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties.
