By installing and using GEE CodeMate, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
GEE CodeMate collects only the minimum data required for the Extension to function. We do not collect personal information such as your name, email, IP address, or browsing activity.
- User-Provided API Keys
To use AI features (Run, Fix, Explain, Generate Code), you must enter your own API key (e.g., OpenRouter, Google Gemini).
Your key is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage.
It is used only to authenticate your requests with the AI provider you selected.
Your key is never transmitted to, stored on, or logged by GEE CodeMate.
- Code and Text Snippets
When you perform an action (Run, Fix, Explain, Modify, Export), your active code/text is sent only to the AI model you selected so it can generate a response.
GEE CodeMate does not store or log any of your code.
Once your request is completed, the Extension does not retain any data.
- Configuration Data
Your model preferences (such as Gemini 2.5 Flash, Qwen Coder, DeepSeek, etc.) are saved locally to improve usability.
How We Use Your Information API Keys
Used only for sending authorized requests to third-party AI model providers. Your key remains on your device and is never sent to us.
Code and Text Snippets
Used solely to generate the output you ask for (fixing errors, explaining code, generating scripts). GEE CodeMate does not save or reuse your data beyond each request.
Configuration Settings
Stored locally to maintain your selected model and preferences.
Data Storage and Security Local Storage Only
All data—including API keys, preferences, and settings—is stored locally in your browser. GEE CodeMate does not maintain any server, database, or backend.
No Logging or Tracking
No API key logging
No code-snippet logging
No analytics
No cookies
No user tracking
Your data remains fully under your control.
Data Sharing with Third Parties
GEE CodeMate simply passes your request and API key to the AI service you selected (such as OpenRouter.ai, Google Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Qwen, etc.).
GEE CodeMate is not responsible for how these external services process your data.

User Control and Consent
You are always in control of your data:
You choose whether to enter an API key.
Data is only processed when you click an action button.
You may delete your API key at any time by:
Clearing Chrome’s site/data storage, or
Uninstalling the Extension
There is no hidden data collection.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as needed. All updates will be posted on the GitHub repository. You are advised to review this page periodically.
