The Sim That Can't Catch A Break

My wife is playing this Sims challenge where she starts a character with absolutely nothing, no money, no belongings, not even a house, just empty land, and has to survive the first winter and turn him into a functional person with a family. She got him some money by collecting trash around the neighborhood to sell, which he used to buy seeds to grow flowers, and then sold flower bouquets for a living. She got a bee hive going to provide him with honey and to help the flowers grow. So at this point he is literally sleeping on a bed in open air next to a flower garden, gradually building up enough saved money to hopefully build shelter before winter sets in. He spends all day making flower arrangements, and subsists entirely on a diet of honey.

She starts having him build up this romance, and gets him a girlfriend, but is having trouble getting their relationship to be very strong, and is annoyed that the option hasn't become available for her to move in with him. I'm like: "Of course she doesn't want to move in with him, he's homeless!"

She succeeds in getting him a room with a roof large enough to hold his bed and garden just as winter sets in (this is a new thing in Sims 4 as of last week). It's literally a box with a door, no windows, no siding, bare drywall. Still the girlfriend won't move in. "Honey, he's a hobo..." "Forget this girl, he's breaking up with her."

Over time the guy builds up an acceptable house with an actual greenhouse wing, 3 rooms, windows... you know, a proper bachelor pad, and he's dating a new girl. This one is willing to move in. She says to me: "He's getting fat, I don't know why he's getting fat." "Maybe it's because his entire diet consists of honey, and he spends all day at his work table?"

Also, he has apparently had a terrible relationship with his bee hive. "They've been enraged for YEARS!"

This has been the last week of her playing the game. Today she comes to me completely exasperated. "Their friendship is maxed, his romance is maxed, his house looks nice, he has an extremely successful flower business. He took her to a scenic lookout on valentines day and proposed, and she turned him down!" "Haha, you rolled a critical fail on a d100."

A few hours later: "SHE TURNED HIM DOWN AGAIN! What is wrong with this man!? They're breaking up!"

For the last hour she has been angrily yelling at her character because he just keeps failing at life. She's now in the process of completely changing his look and trying to reinvent him. "Well, at least the bees are finally happy."

A few real days later, the third girlfriend finally accepted his proposal, and she was done with him.
