What forces layout/reflow. The comprehensive list.

What forces layout / reflow

All of the below properties or methods, when requested/called in JavaScript, will trigger the browser to synchronously calculate the style and layout*. This is also called reflow or layout thrashing, and is common performance bottleneck.

Generally, all APIs that synchronously provide layout metrics will trigger forced reflow / layout. Read on for additional cases and details.

Big list of http static server one-liners

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

Example Nginx configuration for adding cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) support to reverse proxied APIs
#
# CORS header support
#
# One way to use this is by placing it into a file called "cors_support"
# under your Nginx configuration directory and placing the following
# statement inside your **location** block(s):
#
# include cors_support;
#
# As of Nginx 1.7.5, add_header supports an "always" parameter which

RGB, HSV, and HSL color conversion algorithms in JavaScript
/**
* Converts an RGB color value to HSL. Conversion formula
* adapted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSL_color_space.
* Assumes r, g, and b are contained in the set [0, 255] and
* returns h, s, and l in the set [0, 1].
*
* @param Number r The red color value
* @param Number g The green color value
* @param Number b The blue color value
* @return Array The HSL representation

check if element is in viewport - vanilla JS. Use by adding a “scroll” event listener to the window and then calling isInViewport().
// Determine if an element is in the visible viewport
function isInViewport(element) {
var rect = element.getBoundingClientRect();
var html = document.documentElement;
return (
rect.top >= 0 &&
rect.left >= 0 &&
rect.bottom <= (window.innerHeight || html.clientHeight) &&
rect.right <= (window.innerWidth || html.clientWidth)
);
