Please accept my apologies for a delay in getting the last 2 Docs Gists out for the community! At a personal level, GSoD onboarding accidentally became my full focus and I lost sight of this Gist updates. Thank you for bearing with me and I am excited to make it up to you by publishing both this June Gist update and a following July Gist update right after. Thank you for your time!
As an Open-Source (OSS) contributor, I volunteer to write periodic updates about the AsyncAPI Docs ecosystem.
I want to note that this is not an official AsyncAPI Initiative update, but a personal summary I'm volunteering to write up for the OSS community. The goal is to let you know what's going on in the Docs area and how the Docs area has been teaming with other areas within the AsyncAPI Initiative. πππ½
As you may remember from a previous Docs Gist
update, AsyncAPI Initiative is lucky to now have 6 OSS Docs interns!
Let's talk a little about what they've been up to this month! β¨β¨β¨
- π§πΎ Anisat Akinbani worked on... getting onboarded to educational materials that provided an introduction to Event-driven architecture (EDA) and AsyncAPI. She was also given her first GSoD issue for improving the

quickstart. As she progressed in her work, we suddenly realized the scope of the task no longer made sense and we ended up assigning her a new tutorial the next month. But it was still a greatgood first issue
to get her feet wet, so to speak, and she did a great job! - ππΎββοΈ Florence Njeri teamed with... ππΎββοΈ Pratik on determining the outline for migrating over the Generator tool docs. While this may sound like a "simple PR," it was not! π This is because Florence and Pratik first had to be onboarded to the tool's codebase and docs before they could understand the tool enough to suggest an outline.
- π©π½βπ» Karuna worked on... mentoring Thulie to learn git basics so that she could get her developer environment set up and understand how to continue maintaining it. She also completed her first GSoD issue of improving the Streelights tutorial outline.
- π¨πΏβπ» Nelson Michael worked on... getting onboarded to educational materials that provided an introduction to Event-driven architecture (EDA) and AsyncAPI. He was also given his first GSoD issue for writing a NEW

In appreciation for the amazing OSS Docs contributions these 6 lovely students are donating to the community, the AsyncAPI Initiative would love to give each GSoD Intern some neat β¨ swagz β¨.
Stay tuned for more details as we progress on this idea!
Thanks to the AMAZING developer contribution of @magicmatatjahu, our new content buckets are finally LIVE in the Docs! PR website/#601
was finally merged.
Here are the changes outlined below that were a part of the contribution of PR website/#601
.
A BIG thank you π€ to all of our OSS contributors; without you, there would be no OSS initiative! ππ
There is always something to do for OSS Docs, and it's no different for us! π
If you'd like to get involved, pick up an issue from our AsyncAPI GH Board.
That's it for now! -A.Q. π©π»βπ» y Canela πβπ¦Ί
