Privacy Policy for TikTok Search Sorter

Last Updated: April 20th, 2025

Following GitHub Gist serves to describe the data practices for the "TikTok Search Sorter" Chrome Extension.

  1. Functionality:

Extension adds sorting buttons (by likes and by date) to the tiktok.com web search results page.

  1. Data Processed:

All this extension does is add sorting buttons (by likes, by date) to the TikTok.com web search results page. To do that, it intercepts requests made by your browser to TikTok's own servers when you perform a search (reading data like video IDs, like counts, and creation dates). That processing is done locally within your browser solely to enable sorting and is not stored permanently or sent to any external servers controlled by me.

Additionally, this extension uses your Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to save your last selected sort preference ('likes', 'date', or 'reset') --- this is stored only in your browser to remember your setting for future visits.

  1. Data Collection:

No collection, storing, transmitting, or sharing of any personally identifiable information (PII) is done - nothing done regarding your name, email address, location, or browsing history outside of the TikTok search results page (which does not make use of that data regardless).

  1. Data Sharing:

No data processed or stored by this extension is shared with or sold to any third parties.

  1. Contact:

If you have questions about this policy, please contact me via GitHub or my chrome contact email (amirtehrani_chromedev.reflected756@simplelogin.com). Thank you for reading and may you have a great day!
