Download the Installer: Visit the GitHub repository provided in the link: https://github.com/garyan2/wmcsetup/releases/latest/download/wmcsetup-x64.msi and download the installer file wmcsetup-x64.msi to your computer.

Run the Installer: Once the download is complete, locate the downloaded file (wmcsetup-x64.msi) on your computer and double-click it to run the installer.

Install Windows Media Center: Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the installer to install Windows Media Center on your system. You may need to accept license agreements and choose installation options during this process. Make sure to review the options carefully before proceeding.

Complete the Installation: Once the installation is complete, you may need to restart your computer to apply any changes made by the installer.

Enjoy Windows Media Center: Once configured, you can start using Windows Media Center to access and manage your media content, including music, videos, pictures, and live TV (if supported).

Remember that Windows Media Center may not be officially supported on all modern versions of Windows, and compatibility issues or limitations may arise depending on your system configuration.

I can't install it, it asks me for Microsoft DVD Player and when I click on yes, it does nothing.

The prompt you are replying 'yes' to is "The Microsoft DVD Player is not installed. Please download and install the DVD Player prior to installing Windows Media Center. Do you wish to download it now?"

Clicking 'Yes' will download the DVD Player software for you. You still have to install it yourself, so look in your download folder and run the "windows10.0-kb3106246-x64.msi" file to install the Microsoft DVD Player.

It doesn't create it for me tho. I even copied the WMC file to the download folder and attempted to download the DVD Player, but it's not working.

Once you download and install the Microsoft DVD Player, you can then run the WMC installer.

It isn't a virus. Scan it using VirusTotal and find it out.

Kaspersky keeps flagging it as malicious when I try and install, offers to disinfect and then deletes the file without it finishing. how do I fix this?

What are the chances of adding Borderless Window support? I love using this program on a second monitor, but having to alt+tab everytime I want to move my mouse to a different screen is crazy.

I can understand if that is a limitation, however. Just curious. ;)

Visualizer was broken in Win11 24H2. There is no fix.

Please help, when i downloaded the file it told me that i dont have the DVD player installed, so i installed it from here, opened it, and it did like installed it, but when i look at the my apps the DVD player is not there, and the WMC installer is telling me again that my DVD player is not Installed.

Is there a avaible verson of the DVD player of 23H2 to download?

Installation worked fine for me. But having issues with Codecs within WMC. Have recorded TV on system - can watch in VLC player but not WMC. Have downloaded the codecs recommended in the documentation but also have same error message. Can anyone advise a fix, please?

Hi, I don't know why but I can't make music playlists says it can't create them and I tried making a playlist on windows media player and tried to open it via wmc but it just won't read playlists at all

Hi, great work!! But in setting WMC - TV - Sound - when uncheck "automatic volume" for Dolby permission, my external Soundblaster X4 plays repeated noice instead normally sound...it's a pitty because I want to use 5.1. sound. Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

It's because you have too many music/movies and it overloads the app while trying to download all of the metadata for them. You can fix this by disconnecting your internet, going to "WMC (while disconnected of course) > Tasks > Settings > General > Automatic Download Options" and unchecking "Retrieve CD album art, media information for DVDs and movies, and internet services from the Internet" and reconnecting to the internet.

Try adding the WMC.exe to the Windows Firewall's Outbound connections and restrict all of it's outgoing connections disconnecting it from the internet. At least that's how I did it, I just said "disconnect the internet" because that's easier to do but you can give this a shot too.
