The ECMAScript room

Basically, I want a room for high level discussion of the ECMAScript language. Some of us don't have time for a lot of the noise in the JS room but are still be very interested in the community and in the technology involved.

Differences from JS room

  • Support questions for libraries are off topic.
  • The room community is not inclusive to new people, in order to gain access you can first be an active participant in the JavaScript room.
  • As this room is for discussion of ECMAScript, only people with a good understanding of the language or people who are otherwise recognized as skilled programmers by the room members are welcome.

Room Etiquette

The "Be Nice" rule (aka - don't be a dick) applies here. Be nice and constructive to people. Be appreciative of other peoples' creations, creation is a magnificant miracle - so even if someone built something you disagree with: disagree with it in a civil way.

Remember this room is still Google indexed. Don't flag messages - ping Madara instead.

How do we get new community members?

Word to mouth, or through the JS room.

What qualifies for access

There is no hard guidelines, but any of the following indicates people that are welcome:

  • ESDiscuss participation.
  • Contributor involved in a large open scale project (Chromium, Node, Angular, React etc).
  • Library author of a popular/particularly interesting library.
  • Deep and proven understanding of the spec (Book author, book contributor etc).

What's on topic?

Anything ECMAScript that cannot be answered in a 5 minute Google search or by reading a basic JS book. If you ask irrelevant questions or things room members think you should be able to figure out easily - your room access will be revoked.

What's off topic?

Relationship advice, drama, similar stuff.

Room Owner Policy

TBD.
