Overview

srsRAN 4G 22.04 brings 5G SA support to both srsUE and srsENB. 5G SA features can be enabled via the configuration files of both srsUE and srsENB. This application note demonstrates how to configure a 5G SA network using srsRAN 4G, a 3rd-party core (Open5GS) and ZeroMQ (ZMQ). Using ZMQ means there is no need for physical RF-hardware.
A gNB (gNodeB) is a node in a cellular network that provides connectivity between user equipment (UE) and the evolved packet core (EPC). A gNodeB is the functional equivalent of a base station in a traditional cellular network.

It offers continuous frequency coverage from 70 MHz to 6 GHz and features a direct conversion transceiver providing up to 56 MHz of real-time bandwidth. This device combines an open and reprogrammable Spartan-6 FPGA, fast SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity, and full support for the USRP Hardware Driver (UHD) software, enabling immediate development with GNU Radio and other applications like OpenBTS.
