| Tab Stone is a browser extension that allows users to ask AI questions about the content of the webpage they are currently viewing. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. | |
| 1. Data We Collect | |
| Tab Stone collects and processes the following data only when you actively use the extension: | |
| Page content: The visible text on the current tab is temporarily accessed and sent to an AI model to generate a response. | |
| Extension usage data: Local usage metrics such as recent queries or preferences may be stored using chrome.storage to enhance your experience. | |
| We do not collect: | |
| Your browsing history | |
| Personal identifying information | |
| Data from other tabs or websites unless you explicitly activate the extension on them | |
| 2. How We Use Your Data | |
| We use the data we collect for the following purposes: | |
| To generate AI responses to your queries based on the content of the current page | |
| To store user settings and query history locally for convenience | |
| Your data is not sold, shared, or used for advertising purposes. | |
| 3. Third-Party Services | |
| Tab Stone may send page content to a remote server (such as OpenAI or another LLM provider) in order to process your queries and return answers. All data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. | |
| We do not allow any third-party scripts to run in your browser or on the pages you visit. | |
| 4. Permissions Justification | |
| Tab Stone uses the following Chrome extension permissions: | |
| activeTab: To access the page content only when you click the extension icon. | |
| host permissions: To read content from pages you actively use the extension on. | |
| storage: To save your preferences and recent questions locally. | |
| Remote requests: To communicate with an AI API to fulfill your query. | |
| These permissions are used solely to provide the functionality described above. | |
| 5. Your Control | |
| You are in full control of when and where the extension runs. It only activates when you click on it and explicitly request information. You can remove your local data at any time by uninstalling the extension. | |
