WCAG SC 2.5.8 Target Size Checker ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains our data practices for the Chrome extension.

Data Collection

We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any user data.

Specifically, the Extension does NOT:

  • Collect personal information
  • Track browsing history
  • Store webpage content
  • Transmit data to external servers

How the Extension Works

The Extension operates entirely within your browser:

  1. Activation: Only runs when you click "Start Checking"
  2. Analysis: Analyzes the DOM structure of the current webpage locally
  3. Display: Shows visual overlays and tooltips on the current page
  4. Storage: May store user preferences locally using Chrome's storage API (stays in your browser)
  5. No Transmission: All processing happens locally; no data leaves your device

Permissions Used

activeTab Permission

  • Purpose: Access the current webpage to analyze interactive elements
  • Usage: Only when you click "Start Checking"
  • Data Access: Reads DOM structure to identify elements and calculate dimensions
  • Data Storage: None
  • Data Transmission: None

storage Permission

  • Purpose: Save user preferences locally
  • Usage: Store settings like preferred options (if any)
  • Data Storage: Local to your browser only
  • Data Transmission: None

Host Permissions

  • Purpose: Allow the extension to work on any webpage you choose to test
  • Usage: Only on pages where you activate checking
  • Data Access: Reads DOM structure for accessibility analysis
  • Data Storage: None
  • Data Transmission: None

Local Processing

All accessibility checks are performed locally in your browser:

  • Element detection happens on your device
  • Size calculations are done locally
  • Visual overlays are generated in your browser
  • No data is sent to external servers
  • No network requests are made

Third-Party Services

The Extension does NOT use any third-party services, including:

  • Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Crash reporting tools
  • Advertising networks

Data Security

Since we don't collect data, there is no data to secure or breach. However:
