As I close my eyes
A million voices begin to sing
An eternal hymn
A ballad of the Wisdom of the ages

The sound of breath
The music of silence
Echoes through my heart
Invigorates the soul

Fleeting flashes
Of Colours old and new
The aroma of love
The moisture on her lips

A surge of passion
The unrelenting nostalgia
Agony and regret
Burn within the bosom

Then it all fades away
Visions subside
Sounds muffle
A gripping calm ensues

Beyond all pain
Beyond all pleasure
Standing on the brink of existence
I pass into nothingness
