How to add & use a japanese keyboard on Mac

Steps

  1. Open Applications > System Settings
  2. Search for "keyboard"
  3. Click on "input sources" edit
  4. Click the + sign to add a keyboard (and click "add")
  5. Select Japanese - Romaji
  6. Optional: Customize your keyboard preferences
  7. Switch to the keyboard (in your menu bar) to use it!
