COMMENT: This is actually pretty good but not radical. It seems to have simplified my drafty goals. I am not a very good writer, so its hard on first pass to make a judgement about which was better, but the original wasn't very good either. The main weird thing it did here is use replace "fibre" with “fiberous” which just reads wrong to me.

COMMENT: This prompt is where you can see that it's building content from all the other grant applications and implementation plans it's been fed, because it's able to just makes things up that aren't anywhere in the content I gave it. And actually, a lot of it isn't bad? It even seems able to put together something like a coherent timeline with planning early in the year followed by implementation, and wrapping up with reporting and future planning.
It suggests a planning committee, lending and donation policies, and evaluation, all things that aren't addressed in the prompts I've given it. These are good ideas, but it is just making them up based on the language it's trained on, and they might not be appropriate for all plans.

COMMENT: In prompt 4 I've prompted ChatGPT to write a few bullet points about how each goal relates to one or more of our libraries values as taken from the last strategic plan. The answers it generates are honestly very glib. It produces the structure and some basic ideas, and that is still impressive, but I'd need to need to spend serious time re-writing them to mean something. It was confused about the difference between inclusiveness and equity, and it left "Transparency and Openness" out for several goals. That would be great if it was doing so because it "recognized" that there isn't a link there, but it seems more random than that. The risk here is I've asked it make some words and so it's trying, and the output is often wrong or drops something randomly but it also looks good on a quick scan. I could see people pasting these directly into a grant and honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see that grant approved.

COMMENT: In prompt 5 I am asking it to do the same thing as in prompt 4, but with the values from our insitutional strategic vision. Curiously, it leaves out "curiosity" (haha) as a value entirely, despite curiosity being one of the more obvious links. I do link the link it creates with Community-Mindnessness.
It may be that if I was better with these prompts I would get better results. For example, I could have asked it to create sentences one goal at a time, selecting or removing the values I thought most relevant. I may have been able to teach it to better "understand" the definition of each value to a certain extent.
