CutTBS ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension ("CutTBS" or "the Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information.
CutTBS is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information necessary for the extension to function:
- API Keys: You may provide API keys for AI service providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq, Anthropic). These are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API.
- User Preferences: Your preferred default AI provider selection is stored locally on your device.
- Webpage Content: When you use the extension, it extracts text content from the current webpage you are viewing. This content is only processed when you explicitly click the extension icon.
We do NOT collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, address, etc.)
- Browsing history or website visit patterns
- Search queries or other browsing behavior
- Location data
- Device information
- Any data from other tabs or windows
The information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:
- API Key Storage: Your API keys are stored locally to avoid requiring you to re-enter them each time you use the extension.
- Content Analysis: When you click the extension icon, the text content from the current webpage is extracted and sent to your chosen AI service provider (using your API key) to generate a summary.
- Display Results: The generated summary is displayed in an overlay on the webpage you are viewing.
All processing occurs only when you explicitly trigger the extension by clicking the icon. The extension does not operate in the background or access webpages without your explicit action.
All data collected by CutTBS is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
- API keys are stored locally and are never transmitted to our servers
- User preferences are stored locally and are never synced to external servers
- No data is stored on external servers owned or controlled by us
- You can delete all stored data at any time through the extension's options page or by uninstalling the extension
CutTBS integrates with third-party AI service providers to analyze webpage content:
- OpenAI: If you use OpenAI's GPT models, your API key and webpage content are sent to OpenAI's servers. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini: If you use Google Gemini, your API key and webpage content are sent to Google's servers. Please review Google's Privacy Policy.
- Groq: If you use Groq, your API key and webpage content are sent to Groq's servers. Please review Groq's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic: If you use Anthropic Claude, your API key and webpage content are sent to Anthropic's servers. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before using their services.
When you use CutTBS to analyze a webpage:
- The extracted text content from the current webpage is sent directly to your chosen AI service provider
- Your API key is included in the request to authenticate with the AI service
- This data is transmitted over HTTPS encrypted connections
- No data is sent to our servers or any other third-party servers
- Data transmission only occurs when you explicitly click the extension icon
CutTBS requires the following permissions:
- activeTab: Accesses the current webpage content only when you click the extension icon
- storage: Stores your API keys and preferences locally on your device
- scripting: Injects content script to extract webpage content when you request an analysis
- Host Permissions: Allows communication with AI service provider APIs (OpenAI, Google, Groq, Anthropic)
All permissions are used solely for the core functionality of the extension and are not used for tracking, advertising, or any other purposes.
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view your stored API keys and preferences in the extension's options page
- Delete: You can delete your API keys and preferences at any time through the options page
- Control: You control when the extension accesses webpage content by choosing when to click the extension icon
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data
CutTBS is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
