RVM and ruby 1.9 on debian wheezy

0) login as root (su or sudo -s) | |
1) After a Debian fresh install you should install those package: | |
apt-get install autoconf automake autotools-dev build-essential bison bzip2 curl git libreadline5 libsqlite3-0 sqlite3 libsqlite3-dev libxml2-dev libmysqlclient-dev libreadline5-dev libruby openssl libssl-dev zlib1g zlib1g-dev zlibc vim | |
2) Install rvm | |
bash < <(curl -BL https://rvm.beginrescueend.com/install/rvm) | |
3) Add to /etc/profile and /root/.bashrc this script | |
if [ -s "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" ] ; then | |
. "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm" | |
elif [ -s "/usr/local/rvm/scripts/rvm" ] ; then | |
. "/usr/local/rvm/scripts/rvm" | |
fi | |
4) If the file /etv/rvmrc doesn't exists create it and add this content | |
umask g+w | |
export rvm_path="/usr/local/rvm" | |
5) Install ruby with rvm | |
rvm install ruby-1.9.2 | |
rvm use default ruby-1.9.2 | |
6) Install rubygems | |
- Downlaod Rubygems from rubyforge.org | |
curl http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/75173/rubygems-1.8.6.tgz > rubygems-1.8.6.tgz | |
- Uncompress it | |
tar xzf rubygems-1.8.6.tgz | |
- Install | |
cd rubygems-1.8.6 | |
ruby setup.rb |
