Animal Crossing: New Horizons second-player limitations

"2P": Any secondary player of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the same Switch system as the Resident Representative.

Facility Upgrades

  • 2P CANNOT donate to building Nook's Cranny
  • 2P CAN donate to building the museum

Public Works

  • 2P CANNOT choose the location of bridges or ramps
  • 2P CAN donate bells to complete bridges or ramps
  • 2P CANNOT relocate buildings other than player's own home

Island Designer

  • 2P CAN acquire and lay out all path types, once Resident Representative has unlocked the Island Designer app
  • 2P CAN create and remove cliffs with the requisite upgrade, once Resident Representative has unlocked the Island Designer app
  • 2P CAN create and remove water areas with the requisite upgrade, once Resident Representative has unlocked the Island Designer app

Villagers

  • 2P CAN invite mystery island villagers back to the island
  • 2P CAN invite campsite villagers using Amiibo
  • 2P CANNOT receive the campsite recipe from Tom Nook
  • 2P CANNOT establish plots for new villager homes

Multiplayer

  • 2P CAN open the airport gate for visitors and share Dodo Codes
  • 2P CAN use the airport to visit other players' islands

Recipes

  • Beyond the campsite recipe, there is no restriction on which recipes 2P can learn. However, the Resident Representative will automatically receive a number of recipes while progressing through the game that other players can only discover via balloons, bottles, and villagers at their workbenches.
