To conduct a productive retrospective, you'll want to ask questions that help uncover the root causes of the INSERT YOUR GOALS HERE. The goal is to identify what went well, what could be improved, and what can be done better in the future. Here's a set of questions you can use to facilitate this retrospective:

Opening Questions

  1. Project Overview:

    • Can we start with a brief summary of the project? What was the initial goal, and what were the key milestones?
    • What was the general sentiment around the project throughout its lifecycle?
  2. Success Criteria:

    • What were the success criteria for this project? How did we measure success?

What Went Well

  1. Positive Aspects:

    • What aspects of the project do you feel went particularly well?
    • Were there any specific processes, tools, or team dynamics that contributed positively to the project?
  2. Client Feedback:

    • Did we receive any positive feedback from the partner during or after the build process?
    • Were there any notable achievements or milestones that the partner particularly appreciated?

What Could We Change

  1. Challenges Faced:

    • What challenges or obstacles did we encounter during the project?
    • Were there any issues that were not resolved to our or the partner’s satisfaction?
  2. Communication:

    • How effective was our communication with the partner throughout the project?
    • Were there any instances of miscommunication or misunderstandings that could have been avoided?
  3. Expectations vs. Reality:

    • Did the project deliver what the partner expected? If not, where did the expectations and delivery diverge?
    • Were there any features or services that the partner expected but we didn’t provide?

What Can We Do Better in the Future

  1. Improvement Areas:

    • What areas do you think we could improve upon in future projects?
    • Are there any processes or tools that you believe need to be revised or replaced?
  2. Risk Management:

    • Were there any risks that we didn’t anticipate or manage well?
    • How can we better identify and mitigate risks in future projects?
  3. Client Relationship:

    • How can we build stronger relationships with our partners to ensure we better understand their needs and concerns?
    • What can we do to maintain engagement and satisfaction post-launch?

Closing Questions

  1. Lessons Learned:

    • What are the key lessons we’ve learned from this project?
    • How can we document these lessons to ensure they are applied in future projects?
  2. Action Items:

    • What specific actions can we take to prevent a similar situation from happening again?
    • Who will be responsible for these actions, and how will we track progress?
  3. Partner Feedback (if applicable):

    • Can we seek further feedback from the partner to understand their perspective on why they experienced these things?
    • How can we use this feedback to improve our offerings and service?

By asking these questions, you can facilitate a thorough and constructive retrospective that helps your team understand what went well, what could be improved, and how to avoid similar issues in the future.
