I just published the decrypted and updated license file for WHMCS 9.

I sincerely appreciate the license 9 load and, above all, the speed with which it has been done. However, when trying to update, the message appears:
CONNECTION ERROR
WHMCS has not been able to verify your license for the last few days.
Before you can access your WHMCS Admin Area again, the license needs to be validated successfully. Please check & ensure that you don't have a firewall or DNS rule blocking outgoing connections to our website.
For help, see our documentation.

Can someone send me a screenshot of this error? I haven't been able to reproduce it.

When does it happen?
How can I reproduce it?
Is it a new installation or an update?
If it's an update, when does it happen?

I need this information to reproduce the problem.

Anyway, I’ve just uploaded a new version. I updated it to include a new function introduced in WHMCS 9, which adds an extra validation step.

I haven’t been able to test it yet, so please try it using the file I just uploaded.

If it doesn’t work, please send me a screenshot showing the steps you’re following and confirm the WHMCS version you’re trying to update. I’ll then replicate the exact same process on my end and run the tests accordingly.

Hello, thank you for your work. I have a question: I am using WHMCS 7.10.2, and since the system is outdated, I want to upgrade to the latest version of WHMCS. However, I have customers in the current WHMCS. How can I transfer them?

I think you can update without any cause, I'd say take backup first and try to update via WHMCS admin page.

I think you can update without any cause, I'd say take backup first and try to update via WHMCS admin page.

I tried everything, but it's not working. I couldn't upgrade from WHMCS 7.10.2 to the latest version without losing data.

Hello, The safest approach is to first upgrade to version 8 and then proceed with the upgrade to version 9.

This process is not included within the scope of the free support I can offer. However, I’d be happy to assist you the cost for this request would be $150 USD, as it requires several hours of work to complete properly and to ensure that all your data is preserved safely.

Please let me know if you’d like me to proceed, and we can coordinate the next steps.

Hi @wefixmacuk I haven’t received similar reports from other users experiencing this same issue. In order to properly analyze it, I’ll need to review it directly in your environment.

Could you please create a staging/testing environment and try to replicate the issue there? Once done, send me the access details to jesusdsuarezherrera@gmail.com using a secure link via privatebin.co.

I will need:

  • FTP access
  • WHMCS admin access

With this information, I’ll be able to review the issue and let you know exactly what’s happening.

Best regards,

Hi, I'm having the same license error problem. Every so often, after making modifications or changes and clicking save, I get the message:

CONNECTION ERROR

WHMCS has not been able to verify your license for the last few days.

After a few minutes of closing the page and logging back in, it disappears, but then it reappears.

Ainda estou esperando aqui! Enquanto isso, não podemos usar o WHMCS 9, certo?

Acabei de publicar o arquivo de licença descriptografado e atualizado para o WHMCS 9.

Where can I download the license file?

I have been a bit busy over the past few days, but I am now back.

Regarding the reported 404 errors, I have not been able to replicate any of them so far, so I do not have concrete evidence of these issues.

As for the error:

CONNECTION ERROR
WHMCS has not been able to verify your license for the last few days.

This error disappears after closing the page and logging in again, but it eventually reappears.

This behavior may be caused by WHMCS now replacing the license.php file when it detects an issue with the license.

As a possible solution, it is recommended to restrict write permissions on the license.php file by setting them to 444 (r-- r-- r--). This will allow WHMCS to read the file only, without making any further modifications.

Hello,

Problem with 404 I think is not script related, but server related, and here is why:
I was also constantly get 404 errors
Untitled

Both on 8.13.1 and 9.0.2

First I was geting it when i click on login button in admin area, but that was my mistake, as I replaced license file only after instalation, when I did it before instalation, I did not get 404 error. Then I was geting it in admin panel when I save settings, and things like that.

And problem is cpanel OWASP mod security rules, as they were anyway last few months making me problem.
Since i added to etc/apache2/conf.d/modsec/modsec2.user.conf custom rules WHMCS works normaly.

I actually thought it could be something related to server security, a missing PHP dependency, or even an issue with the site’s rewrite rules configuration.

I’ve run several tests on my server and didn’t encounter any blocks or errors, so I’m confident this is not an issue with WHMCS or the license itself. It seems much more likely to be related to the server configuration, especially security rules like ModSecurity (OWASP), as you mentioned.

I would recommend reviewing or adjusting those rules on your server, as they are likely interfering with the system requests.

I tested it on my server with WHMCS and found that the issue is caused by the cPanel ModSecurity OWASP Mod Security Core Rule Set V3.0. After running some tests, and since I use Imunify360, I have cPanel’s ModSecurity disabled. However, the problem appears to be related to Rule 921130: HTTP Response Splitting Attack.

This is already documented here: https://whmcs.community/topic/312082-403-504-errors-modsecurity-being-triggered/

So this isn't the first time it's happened. It's been reported before.
