At Jira Assistant, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, usage, and security for the Jira Assistant Chrome Extension.
Jira Assistant does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data, browser history, credentials, or Atlassian Jira workspace information.
- Zero Telemetry: We do not use any analytics tools, telemetry trackers, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Zero Third-Party Servers: We do not operate any external servers or backend databases. The extension functions entirely within your browser.
- On-Demand & Background Queries: Any data fetched from your Jira instance (such as issue details, comments, sub-tasks, or worklogs) is queried directly on-demand or via local background scripts to provide smart desktop notifications. This data is rendered in real-time within the extension UI and is never cached on remote servers, saved long-term, or transmitted to any third party.
All configuration settings, user preferences, and operational data are stored purely locally on your device using sandboxed Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and standard browser local storage (localStorage). This includes:
- Connection Data: Your connected Jira base URL (e.g.,
your-domain.atlassian.net). - Workday Configurations: Your daily standard workday hours (default: 5 hours) and configured working days (default: Monday through Friday).
- Calendar Customizations: Off-days (leave days) and official holidays manually toggled by the user, as well as the calendar's collapsed or expanded view preference.
- Active Timer State: The stopwatch timer configuration and current active tracking details.
- Theme Preferences: Visual interface options (such as Slate Midnight, Indigo Glass, Emerald Mint, or Sunset Rose).
- Background Notifications Cache: A temporary local cache of your assigned issues and their updated timestamps to accurately trigger smart desktop notifications.
This data is never transmitted to us or any third party, and it remains securely isolated within the extension's local client-side environment.
- Direct Connections: All communication and network requests occur directly between your Chrome browser and your Atlassian Jira instance. There are no middleman servers or API proxy engines.
- Session Cookies: The extension does not request, store, or transmit your Jira passwords or personal access tokens. It authenticates secure REST API requests using your browser's existing, active Atlassian session cookies.
Because we do not collect or host any data, there is no centralized database or cloud account that can be compromised. Your data is protected by the built-in security features of your operating system and the Google Chrome browser sandbox.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or extension updates. Any changes will be posted within the repository and updated in the extension manifest. Your continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy, please feel free to open an issue in our GitHub repository or contact the developer directly.
