Privacy Policy for Hide Everything Else Extension

Last updated: 2024-04-29

Overview

Hide Everything Else is a browser extension that helps users focus on specific content by hiding or dimming other elements on web pages. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.

Data Collection

We do not collect any user data. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Personal information
  • Browsing history
  • Website content
  • Usage statistics
  • Location data
  • Any other user data

Local Storage

The extension only stores your preferences (such as dim/hide setting) locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device and is only used to remember your settings between sessions.

Permissions

Our extension requires certain permissions to function:

  • scripting: To modify page appearance when you activate the extension
  • activeTab: To affect only the current tab you're viewing
  • storage: To save your preferences locally
  • <all_urls>: To function on any webpage where you choose to use it

These permissions are used solely for the core functionality of hiding/dimming webpage elements and nothing else.

Third-Party Services

We do not use any third-party services or analytics. The extension operates entirely locally on your device.

Updates

This privacy policy may be updated occasionally. We will notify users of any significant changes through the Chrome Web Store update notes.
