Brief Summary

I have worked with companies such as Body Glove, American Express, First Data, H&M Clothing, Papa Murphys, to hospitals, hotels, universities and government agencies. The list goes on and on for more than two decades.

I love being an entrepreneur, but more than that I enjoy automating business systems. Productivity and profitability in an environment that allows me to create are what excites me. I’ve been a software engineer since 1995 and a manager since 2016. Because of my Emotional Intelligence training I’m probably the most grounded individual you’ll find in this industry, combined with such a broad range of qualifications.

We haven’t met yet, but I imagine that we’ve both experienced the worst of this industry. Dealing with contractors and employees that don’t know how to communicate, they don’t know how to work as part of a team, or prioritize their workload so that it gets done on time and on budget.

It seems that so many relationships decay into a frustrating mess once the project is finally delivered. Nobody wants to pay for a pile of bugs when the developer spent the majority of their time hiding in a closet somewhere.

At the end of the day, the project needs to be delivered, it needs to work and we need to move on to other priorities.

As a business owner myself, engineer and IT manager, I understand the financial pressures that govern the IT department. It’s a cost center. One that needs to be managed efficiently, carried out productively and be in alignment with the priorities of the other departments.

As you read through all the resumes on your desk, you might be thinking that you need to find an individual with the most specific qualifications at the best price. These individuals typically lack the big picture of the organization.

When hiring such an individual, in a year or two you might find yourself in a situation where your company’s codebase is full of code debt. That means a lot of systems that you rely on regularly which need to be rewritten, because they don’t deliver what the organization requires. In my experience, companies that are stalled by their IT department suffer in their sales and marketing departments. The company’s revenue literally takes a direct impact when a developer is chosen that lacks a well rounded understanding of business.

For that reason, I’ve stepped outside of my role as a developer to learn marketing and sales. I spent three years generating leads with webinars and multi-step funnels, prospecting for appointments and closing high ticket products and services using tactical empathy as an inbound closer.

This experience has strengthened my overall understanding of the organization and my ability to work with marketing and sales to produce a better product. I’m the kind of individual who recognizes the project risks during the planning phase. I focus on risks first, clearly communicate the project with key stakeholders and eliminate the “black box” of IT. I see it as my job to have a complete understanding of the project requirements, complete it in a way that prevents us from having to revisit the code month after month and test thoroughly to ensure a stable product is delivered.

Whether you’re looking for a manager, a solo developer, or an engineer to be a part of your existing team, I’m available to work remotely, or occasionally on-premise. References available upon request.

What am I working on these days? I’m currently working on Artificial Intelligence that writes blog posts and manages the social media and blogging presence for companies on autopilot. It is built on top of Search Engine Optimization techniques to help businesses rank on Google. I should be done by December 2021. At which time I will begin working on an AI that will personalize a website based upon a prediction model of what the visitor is most likely to engage with. These are two of my SAAS companies that I intend to launch over the next year.
