AI use policy for Honeybadger blog

AI use policy

All writing must be your own original work. You are the author; while we permit limited use of AI in your research and editing process, we’re paying you for your unique voice and experience.

Permitted uses

You may use generative AI tools to:

  • Compile research and reference materials, like you’d use a search engine. LLMs hallucinate; verify all facts against primary sources.
  • Improve spelling and grammar.
  • Generate code. (Provided you test and understand it end-to-end.)

Prohibited uses

You may not use generative AI to:

  • Shape the outline, structure, or narrative arc of your article.
  • Generate any portion of the contents, including individual sentences or paragraphs.
  • Produce any text that accompanies your article (including social copy and metadata).
  • Create images or visualizations.

Disclosure

If you use AI, note it briefly when you submit the draft (e.g., "I used [tool] to check spelling" or "I used [tool] to research [topic]"). If you're unsure if a specific use is permitted, ask before you start working — not after.

Enforcement

Content which violates this policy will be rejected. Repeated or undisclosed violations will result in termination of your contract.
