edge meeting notes

Edge Computing Meeting

Date: 2018-06-05 9:00

Notes

  • Would like to start with OPNFV use cases
  • Testing
    • Multiple labs located globally that can be used for test resources
    • OPNFV can help give us hardware to test on
    • We're not sure what the test suite looks like (tempest, devstack, something else?)
  • Glance is looking at options to enable edge deployments, some of which are in flight already
  • Glance is still working on getting requirements that actually have detail, especially around latency (e.g. latency is bad, but no exact time thresholds are included in the requirement)
  • We should have something at the next PTG to focus on this topic again
  • This is going to be an effort that spans multiple meetings
    • Maybe setup weekly touch points between the people working on these components
  • The summit high-lighted several use cases, but more work is needed to flesh out these use cases, especially with the amount of industries this is applicable to

Actions

  • (ildikov) Setup a follow-up call/meeting to figure out details about federated architectures
  • (ildikov) Discuss glance clustering further and track in-flight initiatives
  • (jess lampe) Mailing list for more details for requirements and specifics about details (e.g. latency)
  • (ildikov) Reach out to other community members in Asia so that we can get that region involved

Questions

  • Something the keystone team doesn't really know is the identity data and how it needs to be replicated in edge deployments
