# Privacy Policy for One Click Email Chrome Extension

Thank you for using One Click Email (the "Extension"), provided by Isaac Li ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Extension. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not install or use the Extension.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Effective Date" of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates.

## INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you use the One Click Email extension, we may collect the following types of information:

**1. User-Provided Information (via Extension Settings):**
   *   **Your Name:** To personalize the signature of emails generated by the AI.
   *   **Preferred Email Closing:** To automatically use your preferred closing (e.g., "Best regards," "Sincerely,").
   *   **Other Profile Information (Optional):** Any additional personal details you voluntarily provide in the settings to give the AI more context for generating emails.
   This information is stored locally on your computer using Chrome's storage API (`chrome.storage.sync`) and may be synced across your signed-in Chrome browsers.

**2. Email Content and Context (from your Gmail page):**
   To provide the core functionality of the Extension, we need to access information directly from your active Gmail page when you activate the Extension. This includes:
   *   **Email Recipients:** Names and email addresses of the recipients of the email you are composing or replying to.
   *   **Email Thread Content:** The text content of the current email conversation تاريخ (previous messages in the thread) if you are replying to an email.
   *   **User Instructions and Style Preferences:** Any specific instructions you type into the Extension's modal dialog and the writing style(s) you select.

**3. OpenAI API Key (Potentially, if configured by the user):**
   *   The Extension allows users to input their own OpenAI API Key via the settings page. This key is stored locally using `chrome.storage.sync` and is used solely to authenticate requests to the OpenAI API on the user's behalf. We do not collect or store this API key on our servers. If the user does not provide their own API key, a pre-configured API key may be used by the extension for its functionality.

We do **not** collect:
*   Health information
*   Financial and payment information
*   Authentication information (other than the user's OpenAI API key if they provide it)
*   Location data
*   Web history (other than interacting with Gmail pages as necessary for the Extension's function)
*   Sensitive personal data unless it is incidentally part of the email content you are processing with the Extension.

## HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

*   **To Provide and Maintain the Extension's Functionality:**
    *   To extract context from your emails (recipients, thread content) to generate relevant and personalized email drafts.
    *   To incorporate your specified name, preferred closing, and other profile information into the generated emails.
    *   To apply your specific instructions and selected writing styles to the AI generation process.
*   **To Communicate with OpenAI API:**
    *   The collected email context, user-provided information, instructions, and style preferences are sent to the OpenAI API. OpenAI's models process this data to generate the email content.
*   **To Improve User Experience:**
    *   We may use aggregated and anonymized usage data (if any is collected by standard Chrome Web Store mechanisms, not directly by the Extension for tracking individuals) to understand how the Extension is used and to make improvements.

## HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information we collect in the following circumstances:

*   **With OpenAI API:**
    *   As a core part of its functionality, the Extension sends the email content (including any PII within that content), your name, preferred closing, other profile information, recipient information, user instructions, and style preferences to OpenAI's API to generate email drafts.
    *   Your use of the Extension constitutes your consent to this data processing by OpenAI. We recommend you review OpenAI's Privacy Policy (available at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy) to understand how they handle your data.
*   **For Legal Reasons:**
    *   We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Extension or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

## DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

*   **Locally Stored Data:** Information you provide in the Extension's settings (name, closing, other profile info, OpenAI API key if provided by you) is stored using `chrome.storage.sync`. This data is managed by your Chrome browser and synchronized if you are signed into Chrome.
*   **Email Content:** Email content (threads, recipient information) is accessed from your Gmail page in real-time when you use the Extension. This information is transmitted to the OpenAI API for processing. **The One Click Email Extension itself does not store your email content or the AI-generated replies on our servers or any persistent storage beyond the temporary memory required for processing.** Once the email is generated and inserted into your Gmail compose window, or if you cancel the operation, this transient data is discarded by the Extension.
*   **Security Measures:** We take reasonable steps to protect the information processed by the Extension. However, no electronic transmission or storage of information can be entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. Communication with the OpenAI API is conducted over HTTPS.

## YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

*   **Accessing and Modifying Your Information:** You can access and modify the information you provided in the Extension's settings (name, preferred closing, other profile info, API key) at any time through the Extension's options page.
*   **Disabling the Extension:** You can disable or uninstall the Extension at any time through your Chrome browser's extension management page. Uninstalling the Extension will remove locally stored settings data.
*   **Controlling Data Sent to OpenAI:** You control what email content is active when you invoke the Extension and what instructions you provide.

## THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Extension relies on the OpenAI API to provide its core functionality. As mentioned, your data is shared with OpenAI for processing. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policy.

## CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold if stipulated by applicable law in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under the relevant age without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information.

## CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Effective Date" and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
