Yu,

Nanosecond resolution of time (%N) is not supported on the Mac.
As a workaround, I replaced it with:

t_start=`python -c'import time; print repr(time.time())'`
# …
t_end=`python -c'import time; print repr(time.time())'`

Thought I'd share this for others.
