Product manager
  • We are often involved with multiple projects at a time: we want someone to help manage and plan the team’s priorities and commitments in the long term.
  • We think communication is crucial to project success. Our projects often have many internal and / or external stakeholders: we want someone who, along with our designer (and other team members as needed), can communicate with stakeholders and clients often to hear out and balance their concerns, and from those conversations, help come up with clear specifications for things we want to build. We need someone who can champion the team’s point of view within the rest of the organization, and the stakeholders' point of view within the team.
  • We need someone who can act as a person to smooth out the day to day and solve problems for the team - as a team member, I should always have a reasonable workload and a steady stream of things I can go focus on without having to hunt down details myself in the middle of a task. I also should have a point person to go to when I have questions or problems.
  • We’re looking for someone who is thoughtful and self-reflective about how the team does things, and often reads and learns about how others solve similar problems.
  • No specific software / programming experience is necessary for this position, though we think past success in a job is a decent predictor of future success doing similar things, so we strongly prefer someone who has experience leading a technical team working on a web app, mobile app, etc.
