[Fix Gallery Bank] Wordpress Plugin Gallery Bank Pro 3.x stopped working after switching to https - showing only the shortcode on website and backend is deactivated.

If you bought a license for Gallery Bank Pro https://gallery-bank.tech-banker.com/ then the license key is somehow wired to your domain with the full protocoll like: http://www.test.com. In case you want to switch to https or drop the www your license becomes invalid.

Cases and no solutions are presented here:
http://tech-banker.com/topic/ssl-addition-disables-gallery-bank-pro/
http://tech-banker.com/topic/gallery-not-showing-only-shortcodes/

Using the full domain with protocol is a very dumb or weird way to validate a license key.

The right thing to do is writing the support of Gallery Bank. They were responsive and asked to get access to my Wordpress to update Gallery Bank. No way!

So here is what to do to fool their licensing server.

TL;DR

in /wp-content/plugins/gallery-bank-pro-edition/lib/gallery-bank-class.php: look for the function gallery_bank_updation_check() and find the line with your product key and replace the variable $updation_keys->url with the domain the license is mapped to.

"headers" => array(),
//"body" => array( "ux_product_key" => "XXXXX", "ux_domain" => $updation_keys->url, "ux_order_id" => $updation_keys->order_id, "ux_api_key"=>$updation_keys->api_key,"param"=>"check_license","action"=>"license_validator")
"body" => array( "ux_product_key" => "XXXXX", "ux_domain" => "http://www.test.com", "ux_order_id" => $updation_keys->order_id, "ux_api_key"=>$updation_keys->api_key,"param"=>"check_license","action"=>"license_validator")

in /wp-content/plugins/gallery-bank-pro-edition/views/licensing.php find towards the end of the script in a <script> block another variable that sends the current url to validate the license. This needs to be hard wired too.

submitHandler: function (form) {
  var domain_url = "<?php echo site_url();?>";
  var domain_url = "http://www.test.com";
  jQuery.post("//xtech-banker.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php", jQuery(form).serialize() +
  "&ux_product_key=XXXX&ux_domain="+domain_url+"&param=license&action=license_validator", function (data) {...}

Also change the ajax call to their server from http://xtech-banker... to https://xtech-banker or //xtech-banker, else the validation script wouldn't even run after you switched to https.

Afterwards you should be able to re-activate the plugin in your backend!

Hope that works for you as a quick fix.

And btw. in their FAQ they claim that the plugin won't drag down site performance, but as far as I can tell, all Javascript and CSS is included in every page, even if the Gallery is not used. So that's not so cool!
