Proposal: Cursor Café Bologna

TL;DR

  • What: The first Cursor Café in Bologna, Italy.
  • Goal: A "bring your own laptop" co-working session for local devs to build and share workflows using Cursor.
  • Where: Bottega Portici - 2 Torri (120+ capacity, prime location right under the Two Towers).
  • Team: Proposed by Matteo Celani, actively supported by Cursor Ambassador Niccolò Mascaro.

Introduction

This proposal outlines the organization of a Cursor Café in Bologna, Italy. The event is proposed and organized by Matteo Celani (LinkedIn Profile) in direct collaboration with Niccolò Mascaro (LinkedIn Profile), Cursor Ambassador. Following a conversation regarding the expansion of the Cursor community in Italy, Niccolò recommended submitting this proposal to the Anysphere team for review.

The Format: Cursor Café

Following the success of similar events in cities like NYC and Rome, we want to replicate the pure Cursor Café experience. It will be a low-friction, "bring your own laptop" co-working session. No boring keynotes, just building. The event will also feature informal demos where participants can share workflows and showcase what they built during the session using Cursor's AI features.

Why Bologna?

Bologna is the most strategic hub in Italy for a community event, serving as a logistical, educational, and technological center:

  • The Oldest University in the Western World: Home to a massive, highly active population of STEM students, researchers, and tech enthusiasts.
  • Geographic Hub: Bologna is the main railway junction in Italy, making it easily accessible for devs from nearby cities (Modena, Parma, Florence) as well as major hubs via high-speed trains (Milan ~60m, Venice ~1.5h, Rome ~2h).
  • Tech & Economic Powerhouse: Emilia-Romagna is one of Europe's most industrialized regions. It is the heart of the Italian "Motor Valley" (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati, Pagani, Dallara, RedBull F1 teams) and hosts the CINECA data center alongside the Leonardo Supercomputer (one of the top AI supercomputers globally), driving a massive local ecosystem of tech companies.

The Venue: Bottega Portici - 2 Torri

We have identified the perfect location in the absolute heart of the city, literally at the foot of the iconic Two Towers.

  • Location Details:

  • Space: We propose booking the entire 2nd Floor.

  • Key Features for a Cursor Café:

    • Capacity & Setup: Highly spacious with 120/130 seats. Minimalist, contemporary furniture with large tables perfect for a "bring your own laptop" co-working setup.
    • Environment: Extremely bright space with natural light. Accessible via elevator.
    • Tech Specs: High-speed Wi-Fi, a 75-inch screen, and a microphone available on the floor (ideal for quick welcome announcements or informal demo sessions).
    • Privacy: It includes a secondary glass-separated room (up to 25 people) that could be used for focused deep-work or 1-on-1 networking.

Status

⏳ Waiting for Cursor Approval

Before officially contacting the venue and moving forward with the logistics, we are waiting for a green light from the Cursor team to ensure alignment and support.
