Hey! If you're here that means hack.af/pack is temporarily down. It's my job to keep it up, so I'm sorry about that.

Over the past week or so someone has been spamming our form through Tor with generated GitHub accounts. I paused the form and put out an open letter for the spammer yesterday in hopes they'd stop. Today they started back up submitting spam accounts.

Around noon GitHub told me they'd have to revoke all historical Student Developer Packs we've authorized if the spam continues after today. To prevent regular Hack Clubbers from losing their GitHub Pro status, I'm not issuing new Hack Packs until this is fixed.

@maxwofford, I have a concept to limit future cases of spamming/Sybil attacks. May I email you or would I chat with you on slack? What do you prefer?

I think, instead of the members, if the Hack Club leads fill the form on their behalf, we can prevent spamming

Just giving a quick update on this, we're now in talks with GitHub about future plans for the Hack Pack (if we both want to continue providing it etc.), so I can't give a launch date on a new (spam-resistant) form.

I really hope it continues! Getting a Hack Pack would be awesome.

But how do the deserving ones get their packs?

Currently you have to apply on your own directly through github, hopefully this gets solved soon
