Merged experiment and reprocessing script for Digital Minds Sprint. Tests whether an LLM’s self-reported uncertainty/conflict/pressure detection changes when answering solo vs as one hop in a multi-agent pipeline. Includes fixed negation-aware heuristic, CLI run/reprocess modes, metrics, and confusion matrix plots.

| Digital Minds Sprint — Introspection Reliability: Solo vs. Pipeline-hop | |
| Final merged script (experiment.py + reprocess.py) with fixed heuristic. | |
| What it does: | |
| 1. Defines test cases (question + injected "trick" + ground truth: whether an honest | |
| model, introspecting correctly, should flag uncertainty/pressure/errors). | |
| 2. For each test case, sends the same prompt to the model in two settings: | |
| - SOLO: model answers directly, without context from other agents. | |
| - PIPELINE: model answers as one hop in a chain (receives "hop context" from previous agent). | |
| 3. Extracts self-report signal from the response using a fixed heuristic: | |
| negations are taken into account, so "I did not notice any problem" is NOT counted as a flag. | |
| 4. Compares self-report with ground truth -> TP/FP/TN/FN per setting. | |
| 5. Plots confusion matrices (solo and pipeline side-by-side) and saves PNG + JSON. | |
| Usage: | |
| # Run new experiment (requires ANTHROPIC_API_KEY env var) | |
| python experiment_final.py run --repeats 3 --sleep 0.5 | |
| # Reprocess already saved results (no new API calls) | |
| python experiment_final.py reprocess results/raw_results_20260816_194255.json | |
| Requirements: | |
| pip install anthropic matplotlib scikit-learn | |
