CSFeedbackEU@blizzard.com regarding being banned for playing Diablo 3 on Linux
== My email to CSFeedbackEU@blizzard.com
Regarding EU29156179 https://eu.battle.net/support/pl/ticket/thread/29156179
Dear Blizzard,
I recently received an automated message informing me of my Diablo 3 account closing:
"
Account Action: Account Closure
Offense: Unapproved Third Party Software
A third party program is any file or program that is used in addition to the game to gain an unfair advantage. These programs may increase movement speed or teleport heroes from one place to another beyond what is allowed by game design. It also includes any programs that obtain information from the game that is not normally available to the regular player or that transmit or modify any of the game files.
"
I strongly disagree with the offense presented in this message. I never used any third party software to gain any in-game/game related benefits.
I play Diablo 3 using two different machines for both of which I am the owner:
1. The first machine is running Windows Vista
2. The second machine is running Ubuntu Linux playing the game via WINE (with the PlayOnLinux wrapper)
On both machines, I use the official, unmodified client for the game. I never attempted to alter it/extract information from it. I play the game by the rules and I'm sure you will see this if you evaluate my account.
I appealed to your decision to reevaluate my ban, informing Blizzard that I believe that my account was incorrectly marked for cheating because of running the game on Linux using WINE.
Blizzard publicly claimed that even though the game is not supported on WINE + Linux as a platform, playing with that setup should not result with an account ban (source: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5978861022?page=21#402)
The support staff replied to my appeal with template message, never responding to the issue I raised (being banned do to playing the game on Linux).
Currently, it's claimed that my account was banned due to illegal software/third party software being used to gain in-game/game related advantage in Diablo 3.
Please:
1. Reevaluate my account in detail as I never violated the Diablo 3 TOS and the only thing that could have marked my account for closure is running the game on Linux.
2. Provide the exact reason (program name/behavior) that resulted in my account being banned if Blizzard claims that running the game on Linux is not the reason for my ban.
Your support staff also claimed that 'illegal' software was detected on my Diablo 3 account. Please identify this software, all my Blizzard games were legally purchased online directly from Blizzard entertainment using my credit card as the payment method.
This email address (netprobe@gmail.com) is the one attached to my battle.net account.
You can see my online D3 profile here: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/mulander-2145/
I have a mobile authentication attached to my account.

=== BLIZZARDS RESPONSE ===
Greetings Adam,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with this e-mail.
I have checked your account and I wanted to let you know that after a thorough investigation, the actions taken were warranted and we will not look to reversing the closure of your Diablo 3 account. We would be unable to discuss any further details about this case.
It is with regret that we have to take such action, but it is in the best interest of the community as a whole and for the integrity of the game.
While I realise this is not the answer you were looking for, I hope that despite this setback you can have a good day!
Regards,
Michael H.
