Run Space Engineers with Plugin Loader on Linux - New Method

Adapted from @GangolfOvaert's comment.

1. Download the latest Space Engineers Launcher into the Bin64 folder of the game
2. Set Space Engineers launch options in Steam to bash -c 'exec "${@/%SpaceEngineers.exe/SpaceEngineersLauncher.exe}"' -- %command% (arguments can be added after %command%)
3. Launch Space Engineers from Steam

This method does not use SpaceEngineersLauncher.py, so downloading it is not required.

I would also like to add if i may, that in the steam launch options quotation marks are needed "/path/to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/SpaceEngineers/Bin64/SpaceEngineersLauncher.py" %command%

It works with relative path (./SpaceEngineersLauncher.py), I just updated the script

Hey, this does not work anymore. I followed all the steps, but it just does not start.

I got it working first try. Try without the script, maybe your prefix has some problems. Make sure SE launches by itself.

I added a step to download SpaceEngineersLauncher because I forgot

I want to point out this is working perfectly with the current version of Space Engineers and the latest Plugin Loader. it even works with WINE FSR3. This is my current load line for steam:

WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_MODE=ultra ./SpaceEngineersLauncher.py gamemoderun kde-inhibit --notifications --colorCorrect %command% -skipintro -nosplash -useallavailablecores

I used the .exe and launch parameters of steam. Works great tho and you can use Steam to run the game.

1. Place the .exe in the Bin64 Folder of your Space Engineers
2. Change the launchparameters to bash -c 'exec "${@/SpaceEngineers.exe/SpaceEngineersLauncher.exe}"' -- %command% -skipintro -useallavailablecores
3. Launch the Game

Thanks for the bash-based launch options, I added it as the New Method. Very concise.

to add on to this. I've updated my automatic install script. It doesn't catch a situation where multiple SE installs are done (e.g. flatpak and native)
