Privacy Policy for Take Paws

Your privacy is the top priority for the "Take Paws" extension ("the Extension"). This Privacy Policy outlines our firm commitment to protecting your privacy and details how we handle information. Our guiding principle is to collect the absolute minimum data necessary to provide our service, and in this case, that means collecting no personal data whatsoever.

Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be crystal clear: Take Paws does not collect, store, share, or transmit any of your personal information.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Your name, email address, or other personal identifiers.
  • Your IP address or geographic location.
  • Your Browse history, search queries, or the specific videos you watch.
  • Any data from your Google account or other online accounts.
  • Any form of payment or credit information.

Information the Extension Uses

To perform its single function, the Extension needs to interact with a minimal amount of non-personal, technical browser information.

  • Tab URLs: The Extension checks the URL of your browser tabs for the sole purpose of identifying when you are on a YouTube video page (a URL containing youtube.com/watch). The URL itself is never stored or transmitted.
  • Tab IDs: The Extension uses the temporary, anonymous ID assigned to a browser tab by Chrome. This is used to keep a short-term list of which videos need to be paused, ensuring the extension only pauses a video once and does not interfere with your regular viewing.

Data Storage and Security

The list of temporary Tab IDs is the only data the Extension "remembers."

  • Local Storage: This list is stored locally on your computer using the chrome.storage.session API.
  • Temporary by Design: This data is automatically and permanently deleted when you close your browser. It does not persist between Browse sessions.
  • Secure: The data is never sent to any remote server and is not accessible by any other website or extension.

Remote Code and Third-Party Services

Take Paws is entirely self-contained.

  • It does not use or execute any "remote code" downloaded from a server. All of its code is included in the initial download from the Chrome Web Store.
  • It does not include any third-party analytics, advertising networks, or other services.
