I am sharing the details of a recent phishing and impersonation scam I encountered. This post is intended to serve as a public warning for anyone searching for the associated names, phone numbers, or domains used by these scammers.
- Fake Domain:
deepxrebotics.com(Lookalike/Typosquatting domain) - Fake Corporate Email:
vivianzhao.jj@deepxrebotics.com - Sender Alias: Vivian Zhao
- WhatsApp Number:
+1 (845) 675-3510 - Initial Contact Method: Personal Gmail account
- Email Subject Line: "DEEPX AI Project Discussion"
The scammer targets professionals with a polished but intentionally vague pitch, attempting to impersonate DEEPX, a legitimate edge AI semiconductor company.
- The Hook: The initial contact comes from a generic Gmail address using the alias "Vivian Zhao." The email is loaded with heavy tech buzzwords regarding AI chips, NPU architecture, edge computing, robotic intelligence, smart cities, security, and enterprise automation.
- The Pivot: Despite the professional language, the email fails to articulate a clear, legitimate business purpose. When pressed for actual project details, the scammer immediately attempts to move the conversation off email and onto WhatsApp.
- The Fake Verification: When challenged on their legitimacy, they attempt to prove their corporate affiliation by providing the email address
vivianzhao.jj@deepxrebotics.com. - The Proof:
deepxrebotics.comis a fraudulent lookalike domain (misspelling "robotics"). When I sent a test email to this address, the scammer confirmed receipt, proving they control the fake domain's routing. Once I explicitly called out the scam, all legitimate communication ceased.
- Initial outreach for a highly technical corporate project came from a free, personal email provider (Gmail) instead of an official company domain.
- The pitch relied heavily on industry buzzwords (Edge AI, Physical AI, Robotics) but lacked actionable project specifics.
- An aggressive push to migrate professional communication to an unverified WhatsApp number (
+1 845-675-3510). - The "corporate" domain provided upon request is a typosquatting fake designed to mimic a real brand.
Status: I have reported the initial Gmail account to Google for abuse, and the domain and phone number are being reported to relevant anti-abuse registries. If you are contacted by this individual or domain, do not engage, click any links, or provide personal information.

Thanks! I got email from the same name via LinkedIn “Recruiter.”
Reported to LinkedIn and Gmail.
