Template for NextDoor Isolation Support Groups
IF YOU’RE SICK AND NEED SUPPLIES, POST YOUR NEEDS HERE.
I wanted to create a thread where people in quarantine can ask for help for supplies when they’re in need. This supports their immune system with potentially life saving food, beverage and medicine and can be done in a SAFE manner by dropping supplies outside the door.
Hopefully this won’t happen but based on what is going on in Italy (which has a first rate healthcare system) our healthcare system may be overloaded and there may be no room in a hospital, so very sick people will be at home and in need of help.
My neighbor brought me orange juice because I’m sick. My doctor thinks I have the flu and prescribed Tamiflu. I’m glad I know my neighbors.
What if I didn’t? What if I had no family? Who would help by bringing me vital supplies?
We would. Well, YOU would, because I’m home quarantined to protect the rest of you. All payments must be done by PayPal, VenMo or some electronic means organized between the sick person and the person doing service.
The process goes like this:
1) If you are sick, ask for the supplies you need, plus how and if you can pay for them
2) If you’re willing to pickup those supplies for the person, state that you’re willing to do so and then send them a message.
3) The person in need gives their address to the person helping, and arrange any payment up front
4) The helper delivers supplies outside the sick person’s door and then knocks and walks away. DO NOT GO IN. DO NOT WAIT NEAR THE DOOR. DO NOT ACCEPT CASH. DO NOT SPREAD THE VIRUS.
5) The sick person pays the helper by electronic means
6) The sick person or the helper notify this thread the supply drop was completed.
That’s it. Hopefully nobody needs this, but if they do, here we are. Thanks for your help, let me know if you want me to update the above.
