Python People

(Updated 2022-11-16 with suggestions from comments below, Twitter and Mastodon)

An incomplete list of people in the Python community to follow on Twitter and Mastodon.

With the risk that Twitter dies, I'd be sad to lose links to interesting people in the community, hence this list.

I would love you to comment below with links to people I've missed.

More context and comments at the end of the list.

Some notes:

  • Profiles are ordered by number of twitter followers - not because this is a good measure of "interesting", but rather because it is the least bad quantifiable proxy for "interesting" available.
  • I haven't omitted anyone intentionally, but neither have I tried to be exhaustive. Sorry. If you think I've missed someone (including yourself), please comment with links to their profiles.
  • I don't intend to keep this list updated, but if you spot any egregious errors in the profiles shown, please let me know via comments and I'll try to correct it.
  • People's "bio" is taken from their Twitter profile, and is not necessarily a good summary of their interests.

Oh, I didn't know that, thanks for the explanation.

Neither did I until compiling this list :-).

They normally say "bot" on the profile. I don't really understand.

For what it's worth, Martin confirmed to me that he had a Mastodon account, though I'm not sure the "birdsite" one was the one he referred to.

I made a script to convert the contents of this Gist to a Mastodon import file and shared it here if anyone else could benefit from it too.
