- Declining Numbers of participants on user groups
- Less interesting new topics/events
- Less new Startups
- Braindrain
- Big complex companies suck up talent and ideas
- Totally standardized spaces and offices
- about 30% decline HH.js (guess)
- about 50% decline Ruby Usergroup
- Usergroups are very specific and short lived
- Still they are boys entertainment
- We start to see 'german only' usergroups - maybe not many new expats
- The usergroups are very dry and formal - no yearly BBQ, no contact to arts etc. Another 3 hours in a conference room.
- Still alcohol is served reguarly.
- Everyone is buy 'working'
- We are repeating all the same events over and over again (PHP Unconf, RUBY Unconf)
- We see talks that are mostly company representatives reading feature lists
- Its just boring to attend sometimes. Its OK to talk tech, but there is more to life. Maybe reflect that in the schedule and go away from the main UG/Conference topic.
- Cooperate more with the Universities. They have the young and hungry people
- What new interesting ideas did you come across in Hamburg?
- Except for the big VCs (Burda, Otto, Gaming Companies, VW, Daimler) - Who did just build a cool thing and launched?
- All this is very 'efficient' and does not create a eco system of related jobs. 1 office management on 100 persons does not make for good social relations
- Everyone: Shots fired. Address the problem
- People: Fund and found new startups - fast
- Big Companies - Give up control over these startups in order to re-create a eco system
- Get young people from school, over university into good jobs
- Stop the overhyped startup thingie
- Big Companies: Fund open source initiatives. With money and development time.
- Big Companies: Stop getting IP over open Source
- Banks, VCS, IHK: Start getting money into this. fast
