A user friendly, strong password generator PHP function.
<?PHP
// Generates a strong password of N length containing at least one lower case letter,
// one uppercase letter, one digit, and one special character. The remaining characters
// in the password are chosen at random from those four sets.
//
// The available characters in each set are user friendly - there are no ambiguous
// characters such as i, l, 1, o, 0, etc. This, coupled with the $add_dashes option,
// makes it much easier for users to manually type or speak their passwords.

Camunda

Issues with Camunda

It fails to deliver on its promise

The idea is nice:

  • You separate the business rules from the code.
  • You use a graphical language that non-developers can understand.
  • The developers then write adapters for the business process diagram to enact the business rules.
  • Non-developers can both see and edit the business flow at any time in response to changing business needs.

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Problem

When the directory structure of your Node.js application (not library!) has some depth, you end up with a lot of annoying relative paths in your require calls like:

const Article = require('../../../../app/models/article');

Those suck for maintenance and they're ugly.

Possible solutions

How to push to multiple git remotes at once. Useful if you keep mirrors of your repo.

Pushing to Multiple Git Repos

If a project has to have multiple git repos (e.g. Bitbucket and Github) then it's better that they remain in sync.

Usually this would involve pushing each branch to each repo in turn, but actually Git allows pushing to multiple repos in one go.

If in doubt about what git is doing when you run these commands, just

Connect to another host with your docker client, without modifying your local Docker installation

Run commands on remote Docker host

This is how to connect to another host with your docker client, without modifying your local Docker installation or when you don't have a local Docker installation.

Enable Docker Remote API

First be sure to enable the Docker Remote API on the remote host.

This can easily be done with a container.
For HTTP connection use jarkt/docker-remote-api.
