I am a passionate technophile and full-stack software engineer. I have a background in Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering. Over the last 2 years, I have been working professionally as a Software Engineer in remote teams building world-class products. I do not shy away from a challenge and I am always willing to seek help from my team. Beyond web development, I am always looking for ways I can use emerging technologies such as AI to make the product better. Outside work, I love music and when not listening to music I am either reading a book or enjoying a friendly game of chess.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Mar 2019 - Mar 2020 : Software Developer at Doxel AI, Redwood City, CA.

I Worked as part of an Andela fully remote web development team that maintained Doxel's web platform. I learned/used a variety of technologies while here: ReactJS, Ruby on Rails, Cloud Services(AWS, GCP), Pandas, Docker and Mode Analytics among others. My achievements in the team included:

  1. Setting up a production deployment workflow using docker, Kubernetes(Google Kubernetes Engine) and Helm while working with the data infrastructure team to migrate services from AWS to GCP

  2. Building a custom Panorama Images Viewer as well as a custom Panorama Images Tiler used to showcase work on-site to clients. Setting up a CDN to serve tiled images using AWS CloudFront.

  3. Automating data summarization from a PostgreSQL database to Big Query using Airflow DAGs

  4. Building out multiple mode dashboards/charts to consume client data and give insights

Jun 2018 - Mar 2020 : Software Developer at Andela Kenya, Nairobi

I joined Andela under a fellowship program. Worked as a developer for internal tools before being placed with Doxel. Some of the products I was involved in include:

  1. Andela Media (2 Months) - A platform for Andelans to manage media files photos and Videos. I worked on this project as a backend engineer on the Rails API.

  2. VOF (3 Months) - A platform, that tracks a prospective AndeIans to measure proficiency against their Value Alignment, Output Quality, and Feedback reception. This was a Ruby on Rails Monolith program.

Durng my time in Andela, I stepped up to leadership roles in the following ways:

  1. I volunteered to Teen Code, which was a program to mentor youths and campus students who wanted to start their journeys in web development.

  2. I volunteered to lead a team of Andela Trainee engineers as a product owner whilst building a blogging site application for a period of 3 months.

  3. I volunteered as a learning facilitator assistant and conducted a talk on building APIs using Flask for a pre-bootcamp workshop. During the bootcamp, I guided, evaluated and graded learners assigned to me during the two week period.
