## Notes
* An 'index' is similar to a collection in Mongo. It's the container that stores the data for one collection.
* Number of shards and replicas is set per index.
* Re Multi-tenancy, Clinton for ES core team recommends not using a index per tenant.
## Limitations
* Once number of shards is set, it can't be changed for an index. Instead a new index has to be created. See reindex with zero downtime:
